The Yankees score the first run of the game in the first inning with a Dmitri Young RBI double. But, the Snakes tie the game up in the second after a wild pitch advances the runner to third and a passed ball brings him home, to make it 1-1. But, the Yankees retake the lead in the third with an RBI base hit from Joe Mauer. The Yankees extend their lead to two in the fourth with a Tony Pena RBI double. But, the Snakes pick up another run in the next frame off of a Corey Hart RBI single. In the top of the seventh, Juan Pierre laces a base hit off of the diving infielder to earn his 1500th career hit! Congratulations to him! The Yankees extend their lead later in the inning with a Dmitri Young RBI single, 4-2 now. Tony Clark then gets a sac fly to make it 5-2. Then, Juan Pierre gets an RBI triple in the next inning to make it 6-2 Yankees. The Yankees would add some insurance and win 9-2.

A bright spot in the rotation is rookie Busch, who has a 3.64 ERA with a 2-3 record. The closer, Lidge, has 8 saves.

San Diego Padres - 7
Fukushima Snakes - 3

Player of the game: I missed it :(

WP: Blanton (7-3)
LP: Wainwright (2-8)

HR:

The Padres get the game out of a scoreless tie with it barely started in the top of the first on a Miguel Cabrera RBI base hit. Then, in the top of the third, an RBI double puts the Padres up 2-0. Then, another RBI double extends the lead to 4-0. Fukushima pick up two runs in the next frame off of an Ivan Rodriguez two-RBI double to make it 4-2. A Corey Hart double next batter would make it 4-3. The Padres would tack on some insurance to win 7-3.

2. Gathright: 2-4, K, BB
