Yeah, I've been using that for a long time. I never hit home runs on fastballs, it's almost always curveballs and changeups that I hit out.

Sacramento Slayers 1 - Vancouver Whalers 2

SUMMARY: You want to talk about a pitchers' duel? Well, this was the perfect example of one. A 2-1 game that went 19... yes, 19 innings. Unfortunately, the Slayers could not finish the sweep, but their pitchers have to be satisfied after this game. No team scored until the bottom of the fifth, when Jeff Francoeur hit a line drive over the left field wall. The way C.J. Wilson was pitching, it should have been enough. But slugging third baseman Chris Lynch tied it up with a 452-foot shot over Panpaka's famous "Lucky Pocket" wall. There were plenty of scoring threats as the innings went on, but fine defensive play usually ended these threats. One example of this was a game-saving diving catch by Jeff Francoeur in the top of the 13th. The Whalers finally got to the Slayers' pitching in the top of the 19th, when outfielder Willie Anderson, who came into the game as a defensive replacement, doubled into left field off of Jesse Carlson, scoring second baseman Van Johnson. Lefty Amaury Loaiza closed the game out in the bottom of the 19th for his first save of the season.

UPCOMING SERIES

Sacramento Slayers (6-3) vs Nashville Raiders (5-4)

The Slayers go up against 2 of the best pitchers in the NL. They are 2 of the Raiders' three key players, featured below:

Andy Flint, SS, #43, R/R, 30 years old
3 TRJ, B CON, B PWR, C RUN SPD, D ARM STR, B FLD, C E RES
GM REPORT: The shortstop is one of the top players at his position in the league, and the Raiders' top all-around hitter. He leads the team in batting average, hitting .343, and he is 2nd with 3 home runs. He can stretch the field out, and with his power, Panpaka looks to be a field where he can thrive at. He stays cool under pressure and can also hit lefties very well.

Shaun Valle, SP, #19, S/R, 26 years old
97 TOP SPD, B CTRL, A STAM, HSLD 6, DCB 5, SPLT 6, HSNK 5
GM REPORT: Valle is arguably the best pitcher in the National League. If the Slayers' performance against the Whalers' 5th starter was bad, then their performance against this guy will be even worse. If the Slayers can score even one run against Valle, then it's an accomplishment. Luckily, the Raiders' offense is quite bad, so there's still hope. He'll be giving batters fits for a long time to come.

Hollis York, SP, #46, L/R, 26 years old
94 TOP SPD, A CTRL, A STAM, 2SFB 2, HSNK 5, KN 5, DCB 5
GM REPORT: York and Valle form a formidable 1-2 punch at the top of the Raiders rotation. He may not have the electric stuff that Valle has, but he has better control and command of his pitches. York relies on getting batters to chase his pitch, and therefore he will walk his share of batters. However, he also gets plenty of K's, keeps the ball on the ground, and gets better as the game goes on.

PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUP:

Game 1: B. Morrow (0-0, 9.00) vs. Andre Holmes (91 TOP SPD, F CTRL, C STAM, 2SFB 2, SNK 3, SCB 2; 0-1, 13.50)
Game 2: J. Jurrjens (1-0, 4.15) vs. S. Valle (2-0, 3.29)
Game 3: A. Sanchez (1-1, 4.91) vs. H. York (1-1; 5.25)

Look for even more pitchers' duels, as two of the better pitching staffs in the league face off.

How did you decide on the players stats and abilities? Did you make hitting teams and pitching teams and balanced teams and such? I may try this. It may only last 1 day though. IDK if I'l post about it though. O.K., I will. :D Sorry if I'm stealing your thunder. How long did it take? I can't think of another story line though.

Sacramento Slayers 6 - Nashville Raiders 8

SUMMARY: It was an unexpected slugfest by the Raiders and Slayers, with the Raiders coming out on top. With the score 1-0 in the top of the third, third baseman Robert Livingston doubled to center field, scoring right fielder Bryant Collier and shortstop Andy Flint. They would score 1 more in the inning to make it 4-1 Raiders. The Slayers rallied back to tie it in the bottom of the 4th with a game-tying 2 run home run by Jeff Francoeur. Joba Chamberlain entered the top of the fifth, and the first pitch he threw to first baseman Carlos Soto was promptly crushed over the right-field fence to give the Raiders the lead, and they never looked back, winning 8-6.

Q1. I made them up as I went along. My brain acted as a random number generator for this. Abilities, I went with what seemed the best.

Q2. Yes. For example, the Slayers are a balanced team, the Ham Bones are a hitting team, and the Raiders are a pitching team.

Q3. It took way too long.

Hope this helps you out.

Sacramento Slayers 0 - Nashville Raiders 3

SUMMARY: It was a great day to be a pitcher, as it was a pitchers' duel throughout. Jair Jurrjens had a pretty good game going until the top of the 5th, when the Raiders tacked on 3 runs, the first being a bloop single by pitcher Shaun Valle. Speaking of Valle, he showed why he was considered one of the best pitchers in the NL today. He threw a complete game shutout, and he looked extremely dominant throughout, even as he started to tire. The Slayers' offense needs to pick up the pace, and fast. After the game, third baseman Wilson Betemit was demoted to AAA, and relief pitcher David Aardsma was promoted to the MLB.

SLAYERS' LINEUP
M. Prado - 1-4, 3 K, .226
B. Zobrist -1-4, K, SB, .365
J. Bautista - 0-4, K, .353

F. Gutierrez - 0-3, 3 K, .196

J. Carlson - 0-1, .000

RAIDERS' LINEUP
D. Baxter - 2-5, RBI, 2 K, .255
B. Collier - 2-4, .273
A. Flint - 2-4, RBI, K, .364
C. Soto - 0-4, K, .205
R. Livingston - 0-4, K, .282
J. Luna - 0-4, K, .282
I. Kendall - 1-4, R, .265
A. Pool - 2-4, R, .282
S. Valle - 1-4, RBI, R, .333

SLAYERS' PITCHING
J. Jurrjens - 6 IP, 8 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 3 ER, 4.26 (L, 1-1)
J. Carlson - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 0 ER, 1.29 (L, 0-1)

RAIDERS' PITCHING
S. Valle - 9 IP, 3 H, 15 K, 0 BB, 0 ER, 1.99 (W, 3-0) (Player of the Game)

The Slayers look to avoid the sweep against control pitcher Hollis York. Anibal Sanchez needs to prove that his first start was the fluke, and not his second.

SLAYERS NOTIFICATION

Anibal Sanchez will be scratched from his start today. As a result, David Aardsma will be brought back down to AAA for one game in order to call up Scott Feldman, who will be making the spot start in today's game against the Raiders. Hollis York will also be scratched from his start today, #3 starter Brice Bohan will start in his place. Here's the scouting report on Bohan:

Brice Bohan, SP, #57, L/L, 25 years old
93 TOP SPD, C CTRL, A STAM, 2SFB 3, CB 5, 0-1, 10.10 ERA

He's been struggling a bit to start this season, hopefully the Slayers can capitalize on these struggles.

Sacramento Slayers 0 - Nashville Raiders 6

SUMMARY: The Raiders have managed to get closer to pulling off the sweep, behind 2 back-to-back-triples in the top of the first and some great pitching by Brice Bohan, who wasn't even supposed to start the game today. Feldman pitched amazing, but he made the mistake of actually giving up a run. Nothing else to see here, a forgettable series all in all for the Slayers.

J.P. Howell - 0-0, .000
J. Frasor - 0-0, .000
PH - Rod Barajas - 0-1, .600

I. Kendall - 0-4, 2 K, .237
A. Pool - 2-4, HR (1), 2 RBI, R, 2 K, .302
B. Bohan - 0-4, 2 K, .000

SLAYERS' PITCHING
S. Feldman - 6.1 IP, 5 H, 13 K, 0 BB, 3 ER, 4.26 (L, 0-1)
J.P. Howell - 1.2 IP, 5 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2 ER, 1.42
J. Frasor - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 1 ER, 5.19

RAIDERS' PITCHING
B. Bohan - 9 IP, 3 H, 7 K, 0 BB, 0 ER, 3.77 (W, 1-1) (Player of the Game)

The Slayers are forgetting all about this series, despite the fact that there's still one game left. From now on, it's a clean slate. If Brandon Morrow struggles again the next time he pitches, then he WILL be demoted to make room for Scott Feldman, who is going back to AAA after impressing in his spot start.

Sacramento Slayers 6 - Nashville Raiders 4

SUMMARY: The Slayers have avoided the sweep, thank goodness, thanks to back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first by Jose Bautista and Adam Lind. Shaun Marcum pitched great, going 8.1 innings and only allowing 2 runs. Brian Wilson made things interesting in the 9th by allowing 2 runs, but finished the game off to give Marcum his second win of the season.
