Successes News:

May 28th: Robin recovers from injury, is taken off DL. Robin is called back up to MLB as the Successes send Percy down to AAA.

May 30th: Major blockbuster trade sends Utley to the Successes. Exact terms follow:

The Successes send:
Alvin
35000 points

The Phillies send:
Utley
Rosario

The General Manager of the Successfuls, though wishing to remain anonymous, would submit to an interview over the phone.

Reporter: The biggest news of the week, maybe even the month for baseball fans is the Utley trade, could you tell us more about that?
GM: Well, to us it's known as the Alvin trade. *Chuckles* I believe it should help our team, our Second Base position definitely needed an upgrade. Rosario is also a fair pitcher when compared to Alvin, throwing 97 with some good pitches. Alvin was good too, but he was just asking to be traded. I mean that, he was literally asking to be traded. He was a negative influence in the clubhouse and nobody but Patrick will probably miss him.
Reporter: You sent 35000 points over to the Phillies, do you think that will have any long term impact on either team?
GM: I don't really think it will, with Utley on the team, his performance and his presence should be able to help the team generate more revenue to make up for it, and even with him our team is overall at a pretty low salary compared to some of the big name teams around. I don't know what the Phillies plan to do with those points, but I don't think it can be too huge of an impact.

On another note: The Successes record is now 29-26 after a 5 game winning streak, they have tied the Phillies at second place, 1.5 games behind the Mets.

Yeah, I had Peter hitting 9th and Peter didn't have an agent so I figured replacing him wouldn't be a bad idea.

This is kind of a phase I go through occasionally, update all/most of my logs, trying to decide which ones to continue by gauging interest and how much fun I have writing them.

Rex's clutch hitting give Jonathan his first win and extends the Successes win streak to six games:
Rex was up in a key situation in the first inning, with a good chance to take the lead, he knocked in two runs. Jonathan's pitching was lights out, a refreshing change for the Successes, pitching seven shutout innings and getting a quality start. In the top of the eighth inning, Rex was up with another good scoring opportunity, he triple in two runs to take a 4-0 lead over the Diamondbacks. Robin got a hold for pitching a shutout eighth, allowing just one hit. In the ninth, Rosario was put in for his first appearance with the Successes, in a third of an inning he allowed two runs, he was taken out but still responsible for the runner on third. Zero was brought in to close and immediately got a flyout and a strikeout to finish off the game for his fourteenth save of the season. Jonathan's record improved to 1-5 while Davis' fell to 4-3. In his first game with the Successes, Utley was 2-4 with a double and two runs scored. With this win, the Successes gain sole possession of second place in the Division.

After the game:
Successes record: 30-26, 0.5 games behind
Diamondbacks record: 31-24, 3.5 games ahead

Successes lose NL East lead:
Against the Diamondbacks, the game looked bad from the start, as Sittch gave up back to back home runs against his first two batters, he would give up another run and not even make it 4 innings. Slow pitched well in relief, not giving up any runs, and the Successes managed to score a run while he pitched. Later in the game, after a leadoff triple by Patrick was scored by an infield single by Utley, Terry grounded out. With a runner on first the successes brought in a pinch hitter, the power hitting relief pitcher, Morgan. After taking a pitch or two he saw a breaking ball he liked and absolutely crushed it to center field, over 450 feet for a home run that gave the Successes the 4-3 lead. Some obscure rule I don't remember forced him to pitch the bottom of the inning despite Successes manager trying to bring in another pitcher, but he got out without allowing a run. In the bottom of the inning, with 2 outs, Zero allowed a solo home run to blow the save, after that, he allowed a double, and then a lined shot into right field. With Marvin's arm strength, he might as well not even have arms, the run scored easily despite Marvin's laughably over the top throw. The Mets won earlier that day, and gained the Division lead with the Successes loss.

Despite scouting reports dictating Zero should be flat out better than Robin in every way, their performances have not reflected that, as a result, Robin is being promoted to Closer and Zero will be the new set-up man.

The Successes and Mets were neck and neck in a tie for first place for a while, but a long losing streak for both of them brought their tie into second place behind the Braves. The Successes will look to break their 5 game losing streak and get in playoff position with a win against the Giants, right before Draft Day.

Scott gave up 6 runs on 10 hits in the first 2 innings to the Giants, and things never got any better from there. When the hitters give up that early, there's no chance to come back. The Successes lost 7-0, Willy Legend made an appearance as a pinch hitter, he singled and stole second, but they still couldn't score, he then pitched the 9th and got all 3 batters he faced out.

The Successes are now in a tie for 3rd place with the Phillies, but they're still just one game away from 1st.
