World Series - Philadelphia Phillies (1-1) @ Kansas City Royals (1-1): Game 3
October 26, 2010

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals won a crazy game with a walk-off win tonight in game three. Chase Utley ripped an RBI triple in the first, and that one-run lead would stand until the fifth when Nick Johnson blasted a solo home run. The Phillies regained the lead in the sixth with a solo homer by Greg Dobbs, but the Royals broke loose with a six run sixth inning. Felipe Lopez got an RBI fielder's choice to tie it up again. Then Mark Teahen hit an RBI single to take the lead. Jose Guillen belted a two-run double. Ross Gload got an RBI double. And Khalil Greene hit an RBI single for six runs. Smooth sailing the rest of the way, right? Wrong. The Royals ran into some trouble in the eighth inning. It started with an RBI double by Jayson Werth. Then, with two outs and two on, Chase Utley grounded one to Felipe Lopez. What should have been an inning ending ground out became fielding error by the Royals second baseman. Jayson Werth scored on the error and the inning continued. The Royals then intentionally walked Ryan Howard to load the bases, hoping to have better luck with Pat Burrell. They didn't. Burrell smashed one to left field for a grand slam to take a one-run lead in a six run eighth inning for the Phillies. It seemed all hope was lost as Francisco Rodriguez came in to close out the bottom of the ninth. The Royals got something going, and after an RBI single by David DeJesus to tie it up, with the bases loaded, Mark Teahen grounded one to the left side between short and third for a walk-off single.
