August in Review

The month of August was the best offensive month of the year for the Royals. They scored a total of 120 runs in the month, nearly twenty more than the next highest. They went 17-10 in the month, and are now 81-52 overall, just one win away from from their first winning record season since 2003. They have begun to separate themselves from the Indians and Tigers who are both five games back, but anything can happen with one month left of play. They have been getting plenty of offense and good pitching all year. Kelvim Escobar is leading the majors in ERA at 2.61, tied for first in wins at 14, and leading the majors in strikeouts with 196. Joakim Soria continues his closing dominance now 41 out of 42 in saves with a 1.26 ERA. Jose Guillen is fourth in the majors in home runs with 31 and also has 93 RBI, closing in on 100 for the season. And finally, David DeJesus is leading the majors in stolen bases with 40. The Royals plan to make plenty of call-ups for help in September as they continue their chase towards the post season.

September Call-Ups

The Royals have made their September call-ups for 2010. They have brought up four pitchers, a catcher, four infielders, and an outfielder. For pitchers, they have brought up John Bale, Luke Hudson, Ryan Braun, and John Finegan. The only catcher is Luke Umbria. The four infielders are Shealy at first, along with Callaspo, Pena, and Sanchez who can play the middle infield positions. And finally, the lone outfielder call-up is Justin Ruggiano. All of these guys are excited to help get the Royals to the playoffs for the first time in twenty-five years.

Oh my gosh, this is frustrating. I'm TRYING to lose so the Tigers can catch up and make this a little more interesting, but they keep losing whenever I lose.

 I've had the problem too. My teams usually do too well, and I usually end up like 15 games in front by August, so I S/L for losses so I don't have to pay my players as much

Ok, the Indians right now are three games back and the Tigers are four games back. My next nine games are against those two teams. I play the Indians in Cleveland, the Tigers in Detroit, and the Indians at home.
