Opening Day 2010

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Kansas City Royals have won opening day for the first time since 2007 with a win over the Twins today. The Royals jumped out quick today with a two-run homer by Jose Guillen in the first inning, and they never looked back. The Twins scored on an RBI single in the fourth by Justin Morneau to make it a one-run game. Ross Gload made it 3-1 in the eighth with an RBI double, and that run would be crucial as Justin Morneau would hit a solo homer to right in the ninth of closer Joakim Soria, who did close it out for his first save of the season.

What spot is Guillen in the batting order? He will hit more HR's than Nick Johnson.

Well, he sure did keep his promise. I didn't play game two, I simmed it, and Johnson went 4-4 with a double, a homer, and four RBI.

April 5, 2010

CHICAGO -- The Royals have won their first three games of the season thanks to some good pitching from Kyle Davies and plenty of offense. The Royals scored three in the fourth with a two-run homer by Nick Johnson, and a solo shot from John Buck. A.J. Pierzynski drove home a run for the Sox in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single, but Mark Teahen jacked a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 5-1 Royals. The Royals added one more in the seventh with a solo homer to center off the bat of Alex Gordon, and the White Sox added another in the ninth with an RBI double by A.J. Pierzynski as the Royals beat the White Sox.

CLEVELAND -- The Royals expand their lead in the division with a win today over the second place Indians. Jose Guillen got things started with a solo homer in the second inning. Grady Sizemore tied it up in the third with an RBI single, but Mark Teahen reclaimed the lead for the Royals with a solo homer in the fourth, and Alex Gordon with a solo homer in the fifth. Victor Martinez got the Indians second and final run against Kelvim Escobar with a solo shot. The Royals scored two more in the ninth for some insurance, and Soria closed this one out for the save.

Royals Home Opener

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals lost their home opener tonight to the White Sox. Carlos Quentin ripped an RBI triple in the second to get things started, and the White Sox added another that inning to go up 2-0. Later, oin the sixth, they scored two more on solo homers by Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski. The Royals scored their only two runs in the seventh with a two-run double off the bat of David DeJesus.
