Well, I just played a game against the Blue Jays. I lost. And it was a really frustrating game. I'm beginning to consider simulating the rest of the season. Or maybe playing less games. Or maybe playing the same number of games, but posting less stories. What does everyone think? I just want to get this horrid season over with sooner.

You can go ahead and play less games, it's fine when you don't have a chance of a record anywhere near good.

Haha, I simmed the last two months of my Twins season.

Speaking of my Twins…you know what happened to them. Let's keep a good log going.

Texas Rangers (55-76) @ Kansas City Royals (54-77)
August 29, 2009

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals managed to make a comeback win against the Rangers today, despite the rainy weather. The Rangers scored first with three runs in the third inning. Felipe Lopez got the Royals on the board in the fourth with an RBI double, but got injured on his slide into second and had to be taken out of the game. The Rangers then added another in the seventh, and one more in the eighth with a solo homer off the bat of Josh Hamilton. Finally, the Royals got something going against Padilla in the eighth. Billy Butler got an RBI single to make it 5-2, and after Tony Pena, David DeJesus, Esteban German, and Mark Teahen got three straight RBI singles to tie the game at five. And finally, we go to the ninth. Alex Gordon lead-off with a single, and Joey Gathright came in to pinch run for him. Gathright stole second easy, and after Ross Gload hit into a fielder's choice and no one was out, there were runners on first and second for Billy Butler who hit a line drive up the middle. Gathright rounded third for home, Hamilton came up throwing, and on a close play at the plate, Gathright was safe for the walk-off win.

August in Review

The Royals had a way better month of August than they did July. They were under .500 in the month, but only by one game going 13-14 for the month. The offense was able to do better, scoring a total of 91 runs, thirty more than last month, and tied for their second best offensive month of the season. The Royals now twenty games under .500 on the season at 57-77, and seventeen games back in the division. Here are the division leaders going into the final month of the season. The Yankees are pulling away from the Red Sox in the AL East. The Indians and Tigers are tied for first in the AL Central. The Angels lead the Mariners by two games in the AL West. And the current front runners for the wild card are either the Indians or Tigers. In the NL East, the Mets hold a close one game lead on the Braves. In the central, the Reds continue to dominate, having the lowest magic number in the majors at twenty. In the NL West, the Rockies lead with the Dodgers very close behind at one game, but are the current leader for the wild card. Let's hope the Royals can finish strong, and have a good season in 2010.

September Call-Ups

The Royals have made nine call-ups this year. Ramon Ramirez and John Bale are back with the major league roster as well as relievers Ryan Braun and Luke Hudson. They have called up rookie catchers Matt Tupman and Luke Umbria. And finally, they have brought up first baseman Ryan Shealy, infielder Alberto Callaspo, who spent most of last year with the major league team, and outfielder Justin Ruggiano. Maybe some good young talent is what this team needs to win right now.

Bannister throws Perfect Game

Brian Bannister has thrown a perfect game against the Texas Rangers! Just the twentieth perfect game in major league baseball history. He got Ben Broussard to ground out to first to end the game for his tenth win of the season. He is now 10-8 on the season.

Once again, I did not actually play this perfect game. I don't know why my game keeps simming perfect games. This is getting ridiculous.

September in Review

For the second year in a row, September was the Royals' best month of the season. They went 16-12 for the month and finished with an overall record of 73-89, very similar to last season. They finished nineteen games back of the Tigers who won the division. Their offense was able to produce more with their second best offensive month of the season, and the pitching continued to do well. Once again, they finished with the fifth worst record in the majors and will get fifth pick in the 2010 Draft next season. For the first time in major league history, there will be TWO tiebreaker games played, both in the west. In the AL West, The Angels and Mariners finished tied for first, both with records of 82-80. And in the NL West, both the Dodgers and Rockies finished in first with records of 90-72. Only one from each matchup can make the playoffs as none of those teams would be in the lead for the wild card. As for other division leaders, the Yankees finished with the best record in the American League at 95-67, and the Red Sox will get the wild card just two games back. And in the AL Central, the Tigers won the division at 92-70. In the National League, the Mets claimed the NL East at 94-68 with the Braves just two games back taking the wild card. And finally, in the Central, with the best record in all of baseball at 96-66, the Cincinnati Reds are headed to the post season. It will be interesting to see who wins the tiebreakers and who shines in the 2009 post season.
