Thanks and yep I made a typo, I'll fix it

I'll also be thinking about trades soon but just like in my other logs, I don't want huge changes like getting guys like Mauer, Pujols, Halladay and etc. I want a pitching type of team and I want it realistic with trades.

Huff's Grand Slam Leads Giants to sweep

April 9 -- The Giants completed a 3 game sweep of the Padres to send them from 1-5 to 4-5 at the end of this series. The game remained scoreless until the 4th inning when Mark DeRosa singled in 2 runs against rookie starter Clayton Richard to make it 2-0. But the Padres fought back with 3 straight hits in the 5th inning inning against spot starter Pat Misch to tie the game at 2-2. But the game was broken open with two outs in the 5th when Aubrey Huff hit a grand slam to make it 6-2 San Francisco and knock Richard out of the game. The Padres would get one last run in the 9th but it pretty much ended the game as Blanks hit into a double play with no outs scoring Gonzalez from 3rd but making it 2 outs and the final score 6-3. With this loss the Padres have lost 4 of 5 and fall to 4-6. They take an off day before heading out to L.A to take on the Dodgers.

Padres break skid with 5-run comeback in LA

April 12 -- The Padres had lost 4 in a row coming into today and had fallen into last place in the NL West but that didn't stop them from rallying for a good win for this San Diego club. The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the 1st on a homerun by Adrian Gonzalez and then an RBI single by Gwynn made it 2-0. But the Dodgers got all over Garland in innings 2-4 scoring 8 runs but did not get much from the outfield who struggled to cut balls over and missed on 2 diving catch attempts. Trailing 8-3 going into the 5th it looked over but Adrian Gonzalez homered for the 2nd time tonight, a 2-run shot, to make it 8-5. Gonzalez started a rally in the 6th as well with a 2-out RBI single, an RBI double by Scott Haitston and a wild pitch scoring Everth Cabrera tied the game at 8-8. The game remained 8-8 until the 9th when Tony Gwynn Jr. came through again with an RBI double to make it 9-8. The inning continue and the Padres added an insurance run on a squeeze bunt by Yorvit Torrealba. Bell finished it off with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to complete the comeback. The bullpen also stepped up keeping LA hitless for the last 4 innings.

I'm still wondering what's incorrect about that.

I'm still wondering what's incorrect about that.

the fact that the winning pitcher has no wins and 1 loss on the season, and the losing pitcher has 1 win and no losses, according to jacob. just a typo.

Young Gets 1st Win as Padres hold on late to win Series

April 17 -- Coming back from 7-day road trip, the Padres returned home by taking two of three from the Rockies by winning the 3rd game of this 3 game series. Chris Young had struggled this season with a 9.00 ERA and 0-2 record in 3 starts but made a great one today going 7 innings and only allowing an RBI groundout off the bat of Melvin Mora in the 3rd inning. The Padres got a lucky run in the 3rd inning to tie it when Clint Barmes let the potential 3rd out of the inning go through his legs allowing the tying run to score. The Padres did the most damage to Jimenez in the 4th though. Eckstein doubled to begin the bottom of the inning and Gonzalez doubled him in to give them a 2-1 lead and then Scott Hairston homered on a rocket to left field for the 4-1 Padres lead. In the 8th inning, the Rockies finally fought back with an RBI double for Todd Helton off of Mike Adams to make it 4-2 but in the bottom of the 8th looking for more insurance, the Padres for the 2nd time this season completed a successful squeeze bunt by David Eckstein to make it 5-2. That run would be huge as with 2 outs in the 9th, Seth Smith doubled in 2 runs to make it a 1-run game with the tying run at 2nd. But Bell would not be shooken up having just allowed his 1st runs of this season as he struck out Clint Barmes on a 3-2 count to end it.

Padres Swap Utility Players with Nats
April 19 -- The San Diego Tribune is reporting the Padres have acquire utility infielder Mike Morse from the Washington Nationals for AAA 2B/3B Edgar Gonzalez. Morse had been .500(5-10) with the Nationals in limited time and can play shortstop, outfield and 3rd base which is a position no one besides Chase Headley can play with familiarity. To make room for Morse, middle infielder Oscar Salazar will be sent down to AAA Portland. Salazar had struggled mightily hitting .056(1-18) with his only hit being a 3-run homerun. In Morse, the Friars get a veteran utility man who can hit lefties very well and can spell Headley at 3rd base.

My clients want to make sure that you're doing stat updates every month like you did with the Pirates.

Big Firsts for Rookies as Padres squeak by Astros

April 22 -- For Nick Hundley and Clayton Richard, both rookies got big firsts in their big league career to lead the Padres to the win after losing 2 of 3 in Arizona. The game was led by homeruns as Matsui homered in the 1st inning to give the 'Stros a quick 1-0 advantage. Brian Moehler and Clayton Richard would keep the game scoreless for the next few inning until the Friars finally got to Moehler. With one man on and 2 men out Nick Hundley hit his big league homerun to left field to make it 2-1 Padres and then Matt Stairs would make it back to back with a pinch hit homerun, his 1st, while swinging the green light to swing on 3-0. But back came the Astros in the bottom of the 7th frame when Hunter Pence hit his sixth homer of the season, this one off of Ryan Webb, to make it a 1-run game. Mike Adams pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Bell pitched a perfect 9th with a K to finish off the Astros and give Clayton Richard his first major league win.

Good. Jerry's wondering how much playing time he's getting.

Ugly 12th spells doom against Giants

April 24 -- Thatcher struggled mightily in the 12th inning to end the 3-game winning streak for the Friars. The Giants got off to a good start against Kevin Correria who has struggled this season with a 7.00 ERA coming into this game as they got an RBI double by Bengie Molina and then in the 3rd a 2-run shot by Pablo Sandoval made it 3-0. But San Diego came back with a vengeance in the 4th with RBI doubles by Tony Gwynn, Scott Hairston and new-comer Mike Morse to make it 3-3. The Padres lost Kevin Correia to an elbow injury in the 5th inning and he had to be taken out(expected to take MRI). The game became a battle of the bullpens which the Padres lost in the 12th inning when Joe Thatcher gave up a 2-run double to Renteria with 2 outs and then an RBI single to Mark DeRosa to make it 6-3 and for Thatcher his ERA went up to 11.00. The Padres tried to rally off of closer Brian Wilson in the 12th and got the tying run at the plate in the 12th in Adrian Gonzalez who gave one a ride to left but only to the warning track to end it.
