The Mets Plans should be (A) Sheets (B) Wang (C) Bedard . The Mets need to pursue these players with the knowledge of there past history. We as Mets fans need to be a little realistic here. We sign Blanco and Coste to a one yr deal plus we already have Santos and Thole. Why r they looking at Molina so much? I understand if they wanna trade Santos Martinez or any other Met to bring in a starter but we need a quality pitcher. I believe Santana Zambrano and Sheets would bring the Mets to be that team to beat next yr.

who's next on the Mets wish list?

Post any comments of what should be the mets plan 2010.

Dude, post this in 2009 Season. The whole forum isn't mets fans, and to tell you the truth, I could care less. All I'm worrying about is what my Cubs are doing.

I agree with gocubs.

However, just because I like talking about this type of stuff, Sheets, Wang, and Bedard are ALL injury-prone pitchers. The Mets' medical staff is one of the worst in baseball. If you sign those pitchers, you'll likely get them all injured. The reason the Mets are pursuing Molina is because he is a proven starter (the others are all backups) and the Mets believe that he is a good player (hehehe).

Gets this in your head dude. Zambrano is staying with the cubs and he has a no trade clause I don't think he wants to wave. Citi field is so dark at night it has an evil feeling to it, compare to Yankees stadium. The mets built a stadium around pitching and all I can say is outside of santana the mets have a hella crappy pitching staff that is unreliable in almost every single way. Their offense is ok at best as their 1-5 is comparable to many top teams like the phillies, Yankees, and red sox so they have nothing special. Their 6-8 I can't even name them that's how bad it is. Now is the time to rebuild and not win. They do not have the talent either, except for the injury prone ones.

I agree, as a Yankees fan, I couldn't careless and METS SUCK!

Bengie Molina as a starting catcher still makes me want to laugh.

He's a designated hitter in the American League, not a damn catcher. And he's not a catcher anywhere else, either.

Molina is a fairly good defensive catcher. It's just that his OBP sucks, and when he does happen to get on base, he sucks even more.

Why? He didn't spam, that was a very informative post. Is it just because he said METS SUCK in really big letters? Well, they do :P Opinions aside, that's not a very good reason to tell someone to :gtfo:

I live in the Bay Area and I watched Molina play a lot. He isn't the old stud he used to. However, he is able to groom a young pitching staff. He is a vertern that can hit .280 15-20 HR 80 RBI's. He is not the same as before, but he is useful in a Pudge sense, but just way slower.

I'm sorry but did I offend you in anyway? By the way, you should check out the spam topic. I'm just stating my opinion and what I said I have facts to back it up so I don't know what I did that made you so upset. MLBTRADERUMORS said that Zambrano is likely staying with the cubs and he has a no trade clause too. Mets have a bad pitching staff now outside of Santana and BBB should agree with me. Adding injury prone starters dont really work out, ask the Red Sox, they know. Their 1-5 hitters are slightly below par compared with bigger teams, and that is true. Their 6-8 hitters kinda suck. I remember its their C (At the moment their is no Molina), RF (He could hit, but he sucks now), 2B (Slower and needs to learn to catch a pop up).

Nah, Bengie is not a Pudge Rodriguez. Pudge is a Hall of Famer, while Molina is in the Hall of Average. If I had to choose one of the players in their prime, I'd choose Rodriguez. He gives you the all-defense package with above average offense at the position. In my mind, and I'll be honest with you, Molina is no more than a Mike Napoli. Napoli and Bengie aren't that good, but they suffice for teams weak in the catching area.

Zambrano isn't leaving, no trade clause, loves Chicago (ecept that Gatorade Machine), and wants to stay here.

Yeah even I agree with MaL the Mets have a bad starting pitching staff. They have Santana who is an ace. Then they have Maine, Pelfrey and Perez who are all question marks. I think at least one will be good (probably Pelfrey) one will be decent (maine) and Perez will probably stink. We also have Niese who is a rookie who is coming off an injury. We need a starter. I hope the Mets sign Jon Garland.

Sorry, what I meant to say was Bengie can do what Pudge did for the Rangers last year, in the sense you get offense and a vertern grooming your pitching staff. Why thank you BBB, the Mets pitching is kinda overrated. I never like Perez and his a bust for 12 million a year. Garland doesn't solve their pitching problems. Garland eats up innings and is not a legit 2nd starter in anyway. I suggest a trade for Harang or Arroyo but they are kinda expensive but the Mets might have the prospects require to trade for a 2nd starter.

No one probably wants to hear me say this, but the Mets missed their chance at contending this year when they didn't trade for Halladay. The Mets could have easily upped the ante for the ace and gave Toronto better specs than the Phillies, but they didn't.

I'd take this offer every day of the week over what the Phillies paid:

Fernando Martinez
Brad Holt
Jonathan Niese
Ruban Tejada
Wilmer Flores

The Jays would have accepted it, too. I'm sure of it. That would give the Mets Santana and Halladay, easily the best one-two punch in baseball. I'd take it everyday over Sabathia and Vazquez.

@MaL: Ah, I thought we were comparing careers between the two catchers. I do see what you mean then, Bengie is just providing veteran leadership to the Mets. Still, I wouldn't want to overpay for that. Three million would be the most I'd be willing to give to Molina.
