Look at the UZR. Castillo is fast and had some gold gloves back in the day but his defense is HORRIBLE now.

The Mets are trynig desperately to trade Castillo and they are exploring a bunch of 3 way deals. I heard they are interested in Snyder, and if the DBacks need a second baseman then I don't see any reason in the world why this hasn't happened yet.

I know.
*flashback to Mets-Yanks game, dropped pop-up*
His batting sucks, his fielding ain't what it was, and he can't consistently steal bases.
Oh, and he's REALLY expensive.

His batting does not suck. He hit .302 last year and had a OBP of .387. HE also was very good at working the count. And just because he doesn't steal bases does not mean he is not fast. Lastly, he is not "REALLY expensive" he is $6 million.

That's above league average.
and that OBP, while good, is not the only factor in his batting prowess.
And for his age and skill, even for a team like the mets, that's expensive.
sorry, i thought he signed a more lucrative deal...

In this case, the D-Backs would probably require the Mets to eat a portion of Castillo's salary - probably close to the difference between him and Snyder - unless they can throw another player in the mix. Castillo was worth about $7.2 million in 2009. Unfortunately, he needed to post his best offensive season since 2005 to offset his defense, which was putrid.

Either way, Castillo is one of the most unique hitters in baseball: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.ph ... -discpline
