A theme of this postseason has been no batters on in a tie game in the 9th(or with a lead) and a closer has 2 strikes on a hitter, can't finish the guy with 2 outs and the teams explode. Last night Lidge had 2 strikes on Damon, he got on and the Yankees scored 3 runs with 2 outs in the 9th to lead 7-4

this all came so fast, the baseball season could end tonight but more likely in Game 6 with Lee pitching with full rest tonight

But if the Yankees win tonight then this'll be the 6th straight year since 2004 that a world series has ended in 5 or less games

To tell you the truth, this series hasn't had much drama. It's had its moments but no real nail biters except last night, which ended up seeming like a blowout

Hey guys, sorry to step away from the world series, but what do you think are the chances Manny opts out? :P

0%. His bat speed is eroding fast so I'm sure he would like a multi-year deal, but he's better off taking the guaranteed $20 million now so he can audition for another two-year deal in 2011-12.

this move was so random. what are the Pirates doing trying to get a veteran :o

They traded Iwamure to Pittsburgh for RP Jesse Chavez

He throws around 94 MPH and had a 4.01 ERA for the Pirates

Interesting move. Seems like a definite win for the Rays. They shed 6 million in payroll and acquire a guy who could be a good set up man. Why in the world would the Pirates make this move? Do they expect to compete this year? :P

:danceparty: Ever since we traded Sanchez, this has been a big need. With him batting behind Mccutchen and Garrett Jones behind him, we'll have a strong heart of the lineup. Pedro Alvarez, our best prospect, is on the fast track to the Majors, and with Andy LaRoche behind that, we could have a great lineup. I'm glad to see the Pirates moving in a new direction, getting good players instead of getting rid of them. But, we'll have to see about that knee... Chavez was a really good set up man last year. His fastball tops out at 97, and he does have a good breaking ball. He could actually be moved into a closers role. But, when it comes to Joe Maddon he uses anybody as his closer.

Yankees lead 7-3, and with Mariano Rivera ready to come in, things look bleak for the Phillies...
