First time Papelbon has let his own post-season batters score. Ever.

The Red Sox need to sign another closer this off-season, or move Bard into the position.

Anything to get rid of Paps. He overthrows way too much in easy situations. I hope he never touches a baseball again. Way to cost us the ALDS.

LAA vs. NYY in the ALCS, most likely. I hope the MFY lose. And Paps gets hit by a bus.

trade f'ing papelbon

PAPELBON IS THE BILL BUCKNER SCENE OF THIS GENERATION

2 Outs, 2 strikes on 3 straight hitters and they all reach and a guy who's had like 1 RBI in his last 100 postseason games gets a hit. why even throw guerrero a pitch down the middle! he'll swing if its 5 feet over his head, he's not gonna walk

I've officially become a member of red sox nation when it comes to suffering

god and we had lester and beckett for games 4 and 5 too...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

sorry for spamming. I'll calm down later

edit: What are the chances of a guy with 21 straight shutout innings and one blown save because of an inherited runner in the postseason blow a 3 run lead? thats choking like you read about. DANIEL BARD FOR CLOSER 2010!

I think I might know. but you guys haven't had a lead blown like that in an elimination game in the 9th inning, with 2 outs.. with 2 strikes to 3 straight hitters.. with a 2 run lead.. with a closer who has never allowed a run in the postseason in 20 or so innings...

Here's my post to a thread about saying whether buckner or papelbon was the biggest choker

Quote:
his is the bill buckner of this generation, except very much worse

this was an elimaination game and there was still a game 7 in 1986 which they blew and everything was out of wack by the time the ball went through his legs

but its pretty similar anyways and I'm still shocked that this happened. what are the chances? a guy blows his most important chance of the season after not allowing an earned run in like 20 or so innings of work.

I'm still a kid and when I'm grown up I'll be able to tell my kids I was watching this game.. just like every adult tells their kids that they saw Bill Buckner let the ball go through his legs

and yankees and some angels fans, F off. you guys haven't won the world series because the red sox lost, theres still a long way to go for you guys

The angels fans and yankees fans are annoying right now too. but the yankees have nothing to do with this?? why do the yankees fans on the red sox board act like they won the world series!

You guys are bashing Pap too much I mean he didn't have a great season, but he was still 4th in the league in saves, and one bad post season outing and your throwing him under the bus. Trust me Bard will be no Pap, he may throw 100 but has trouble with control, and throwing a 100 will wear down his arm even though he is a closer, but the Sox do get into a lot of saves situations. I say keep both start with Pap next season and if he slides switch roles for a while if Pap starts to become a dominator again then switch roles again

and when I thought there were no angels fans on the board...

but in the end I'll probably be rooting for the Angels, the Yankees CANNOT win the world series and they'll probably play the Angels

Also remember in 05 the sox got swept by the white sox and they won the WS so the Angels probably will, maybe

I've gone into my tradition of changing my favorite team to my favorite left in the playoffs.
