Good run man. There's always next year. Boy, the Mets have been in the World Series for 3 straight years. That's pretty consistent.

I was actually happy to see the A's win this one. if the mets won it then it would've been no fun probably but tell us what F/A's are available during F/A time

Pirates Season In Review

The Pirates racked it in after a 93-69 season which was cut short in the NLDS but was surely not a disappointing season. The 17 year old under .500 thing seems well gone after finally making the Postseason after coming so close in 2009. The Pirates were a pitching machine in 2010 when they led the majors with a 3.78 ERA while scoring 791 as a national league team. The Pirates have not won the division in many years and can look at it for next year after a wild card season. The Pirates had some stars on this team, Doumit put up pretty good numbers, Jones had a monster second half after an almost useless 2 months, Werth was the big power hitter, McCutchen led the league in steals for the 3rd year in a row and Anibal Sanchez won the Cy Young award for an amazing season leading the majors in wins and ERA while leading the Pirates to the playoffs for the first time since '92. The Pirates also had 2 gold glove award winners in the sure handed Ronny Cedeno who has turned into a Jack Wilson and Werth who was kind of a surprise. The only question the Pirates have are on Chad Bradford who is getting older and abilities are getting worse and one other might be Hanrahan who had an ERA over 4 but led the league in saves with 38. One other side note is that minor leaguer Joe Dillon has retired and was part of the Pirates AAA system and getting some MLB time.

thanks it was pretty good run. but the Mets have over 300 wins in these 3 years which is amazing. there always seems to be an amazing team for the first few years in this game

I just gave Buck whatever he had. and I put his stats up

well the contract renewals are done and their salary has gone up so I can't really spend and Bradford got 2,500 points and he got worse so I might not need him

but I also locked up McCutchen to 7,200,000 Million (7200 P) deal for 3 years :yay:

[b]Great free agents but I'm not sure where I want to go with them. I don't want to deal with big contracts and Hoffman, Winn, T.Miller, Matsui and more have lost their abilities pretty much

I think I'm done with Bradford, he's old and costly

RF can be a concern I guess, Buck can do some offensively but defensively and speed wise he isn't that good but theres not much to do about it and I'd like to give Buck another chance

Yay, more of my outlandish free agent suggestions

1. GO ALL OUT FOR HALLADAY, HAREN, AND STREET. You need 1 or 2 solid starters and Haren and Halladay would be perfect for the roles. I know Lackey and Webb are out there, but my experience tells me that they will sim horribly. Check their last season ERA's. If they are under 4.50, I would make a go for them. Street is one of the best relief pitchers in the game. He would immediately become a lights-out closer.

2. I think you might want to sign a shortstop, given Cedeno's batting stats. J.Wilson would be my top pick, since he is already a great defensive player. Rollins is good too. However, if these guys are too old, Reyes would be a smart signing. You might even want to sign two shortstops and make one of them a second baseman.

3. If you are intending to replace Buck, Brad Hawpe is a good choice. He's a great batter and a decent defensive player. Jose Guillen would be okay too, but he's probably too old and not that much better than Buck. I might offer him a cheap, 800 deal or so.

4. Some "Marquee" free agents you might want to go hard after:
Mauer
C.Pena
Youkilis (is he edited)
N. Johnson
Possibly B. Roberts

I'd also offer a cheap deal for Blake, if he is not too old. He'd be a solid backup for your team.

Other than Halladay, Haren, Street, and possibly Mauer, you probably shouldn't be offering more than 5000 or 6000 or so.
And, as always, I would offer cheap 1000-or-less deals to all of the "marquee" free agents (that are not too old), because at worst they could just be bench players.

hmm I like the suggestions but my problem is always that I need to keep my team intact for the season as in not spend on amazing free agents, win every year and at the same time I want to keep the Pirates of now on my team like Cedeno and others

Cedeno has a chance to be as good defensivly as wilson and better and Wilson is 6,500 points which is too much because my players got much bigger combined contracts

I trust in my rotation and will give Karstens a chance

but I'll look at Street...

edit: halladay's ERA was 3.98 but has a 16,000 point contract. and street had a 4.91 ERA

Pirates land Street as part of closing option

The Pirates were able to beat out the Rockies and Rays and were able to land RHP Huston Street. The Pirates feel like they can fix Street after a year where he had a 4.91 ERA as a closer. They were able to fix Hanrahan into something good and hope the same is with Street. Street may close for the team and they signed him for 100 points lower then he asked for with 1,590 points. This was all part of a crazy first day of signings where marquee players moved and one Atlanta legend as well.

Betimet goes to Nationals

Valverde goes to Orioles

MacDougal goes back to Nationals

Ortiz goes back to Red Sox

Chipper Jones leaves Atlanta to the Dodgers

Bedard goes to Dbacks

Rollins goes back to Phillies

Inge goes to Blue Jays

Street goes to Pirates

Lee goes to Mets to fix 1B problem

Hawpe lands in San Fransisco

Blake lands with Giants as well as Hawpe

Harang to Mariners

Oliver Perez goes to Cardinals

Lohse to Royals

Rios replaces Hawpe in Colorado
