I might have to do 1-3 games tonite because I'm not gonna be able to for the next few days so more stuff up soon

edit: and I plan to do the playoff games like I've done all year and not the 10 pages a game type of game logs

National League Division Series Opener

Pittsburgh Pirates @ New York Mets

The long awaited first playoff game since 1992 for the Pirates was able to live up to its name. It was a great pitcher's duel between game 1 starters Zach Duke and John Maine who were both dominant in this game. The Pirates scored first in the 6th inning when Garrett Jones hit an RBI double that sliced away from Murhpy in left field for the 1-0 lead agaisnt John Maine. The Mets fought back in the 8th with 1 out when Bradford got the groundball he wanted but it was not hit hard enough to turn the inning ending double play and it led to a run it after Schneider beat out the potential double play to tie the game at 1. The game went into the 10th inning when Putz got into a huge jam and Mike Fontenot made him pay with a 2-run single to left field for the 10th inning 3-1 lead. Hanrahan let up 2 straight singles to begin the 10th but got a huge double play and got Jose Reyes, the tying run, to ground out to end the game and give the Pirates a 1-0 series lead.

National League Division Series Game 2

Pittsburgh Pirates(1-0) @ New York Mets(0-1)

The Pirates and Mets were once again destined for a pitcher's duel here in game 2. Anibal Sanchez was not feeling good today but he was good until he ran into a rough 5th. The Mets got 5 straight hits with 1 out and Reyes, Murphy and Wright all had RBI singles to take a 3-0 lead. Oliver Perez was stellar today and without any strikeouts, made the Pirates look foolish through 8 innings. The Pirates started to attack in the 9th when Amezaga started with a pinch hit single off of Perez who was still in the game, Fontenot hit an RBI double and Jayson Werth singled him in when Murphy made a bad choice and relayed to Wright who was not able to throw him out when he would've been out by plenty if Daniel Murphy had just thrown home. The Mets stuck to Perez and he was able to retire Ryan Doumit to tie the series at 1 apeice. With this win the Pirates will get to play in PNC Park this postseason for at least 1 game.

National League Division Series Game 3

Pittsburgh Pirates(1-1) @ New York Mets(1-1)

The good news is that the Pirates are going home, the bad news is its against alot of odds. The Pirates had trouble holding the Mets after an early lead. The game was once again a pitcher's duel until the 6th inning when trailing 1-0, Mike Fontenot came through again for the Bucs with a solo homerun to tie it. The Pirates weren't done though and they were able score 2 more runs with an RBI single by Ronny Cedeno and an RBI single by pinch hitter Ramon Vazquez. The Pirates felt comfortable with a 2 run lead in the 8th and their bullpen doing the work but that was not gonna be good. Bradford got 1 out but Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran hit back to back homeruns to tie it at 3, one of Bradford and the second off of Yates. Yates continued to pitch into the 9th inning but he would load the bases with 1 out. Bautista entered the game and got an out with a chopper where Bautista just got the runner out at home for out number 2. But Daniel Murphy would promptly line one to right fielder Amezaga who came into the game in a double switch to end the game as it went just passed the dive of him. The Pirates will now go home down 2 games to 1 and likely to face Johan Santana at some point.

National League Division Series Game 4

New York Mets(2-1) @ Pittsburgh Pirates(1-2)

After a long 13 inning night at PNC Park, the Pirates improbable season has ended. Carlos Beltran was a pain in the back for the Bucs today and homered in the 1st inning off of Maholm for a 1-0 lead which would turn into 3-0 in the 3rd when Franeour got his first hit of the series with a 2-run homerun to left. But injured would happen after when Castillo made a diving play but had to leave the game after being hurt and was replaced by Easley. But a big loss was Doumit who ran into the fence trying to catch a ball and had to leave the game for Jeff Clement, a lefty who is not good against lefties and faced Johan Santana tonite. The Pirates looked done but they were able to rally off of Johan in the 3rd but it looked bad with bases loaded, 2 outs and 2 strikes to the lefty Buck. Well he turned on a fastball and hit his biggest homerun as a Pirates, a grand slam to give them a 4-3 lead but Beltran would come back with an RBI groundout in the 4th to tie it. The game stayed tied until the 10th inning where Hanrahan got into the game and struggled like he did in the regular season, he gave up a go-ahead RBI double to the pesty Beltran and an RBI double by Wright to make it look well over. But no it was not over. The Pirates got 2 straight hits to start the 10th inning and with tricky baserunning loaded the bases against K-Rod. Werth would pop out for 1 out but a wild pitch by Rodriguez tied the game and gave them life and Susumu Ikari, who has had a quiet series, hit a go-ahead sac fly to tie it. But sadly good things don't last forever, Beltran did it again with a 13th inning homerun for a 7-6 lead and in the end a 7-6 win to end the NLDS. The Mets will now move on thanks to the big bat of Carlos Beltran and will face either the Cardinals or the Dodgers.
