Well, Jaw decided not to show up until the march of the second year. I got the surprise bag on my first try, and I've been s/ling to get the gambler's ring. I HAVE GOTTEN ALMOST EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME AT LEAST TWICE, BUT NO GAMBLER'S RING! NONE!!!!!!!!!! Is it worth it to s/l over 50 times for this stupid ring, or should I settle for something else?

I don't now, the same thing happened to me and I just stopped trying, still came out with a great character though. Once I got the gamblers ring and it did me wonders but I got it from some other event, I think they were selling it some place or something.

Save your hair and just forget about the ring.

It usually takes less than 200 tries for me, just be patient...

If you can get a secrets book, that's almost as good as a Gambler's Ring.

Really? Cuz I got 2 secrets of defense, 2 legends of baseball, and 1 secrets of pitching

If you're a hitter, S/L for Secrets of Hitting and if you're a pitcher, S/L for Secrets of Pitching. After you get the book, save, and then S/L for a useful ability like Refined (Hitting) or Dr. K (Pitching).

Well, with a secrets book, you get an ability. With a Gambler's Ring you can get several stats 8 points higher, it depends what kind of character you want.

What I'm thinking of is a book will only give you 1 ability, but a ring can get you multiple abilities as long as you have the right points. It's a tough choice. I changed the poll to which item I should try to get.

Don't get The Legendary Players of Baseball, it can't give unbuyable abilities.

I like the Legends book. It sells for like 500 dollars and then you can just get a bunch of gamblers tickets which are just as good as a Ring if you have enough.

I always felt it was only worth it to save and load all that time to get a gamblers ring. After a while I would not settle for something less, because I spent all that time on it and I'm not going to waste that.

If I got tired of s/l for it, I'd just save and pick it up the next day and hope I have better luck.

As the Success mode ends at the end of year 2, what is the use of buying object from the shop after you're promoted to majors ?
Is it possible to save after the last match before the end of the success mode to use gambler tickets ?

You can't sell the Legends book in 2008.
