Angels trade for Kazmir! Wow and they barely gave up anyone. I'm hearing this on MLB network. I'm amazed

Nananananana hahahahahaha! You guys are DONE!!! D-O-N-E DONE!!! :mrgreen: Cards are in it to win it!! Giving away Harden? That's like us giving up Wainwright. In other words, incredibly stupid.

Incredibly smart. Thats 7 million bucks we don't have to waste, plus another 2-3 mil from Heilman. that's around 9-10 mil already for free agents, plus whatever prospect they get from whoever

What a start by Zack Greinke today. One-hitter. He gave up a hit in the second and was perfect the rest of the game.

Some double play. Rollins stepped on 2nd and threw to Feliz for the run down and nearly got a triple play.

paul byrd outdueled roy halladay in todays matchup, and the sox won 7-0. Billy Wagner made his red sox debut. They're smoking hot right now. They are catching up to the yankees in no time{I mean if the yankees start to lose}
They also optioned tazawa to rookie ball, called up mcbride, and traded for joey gathright

I think u mean BcBeth and he was sent down because of Byrd. Chris carter is apparenlty heading to new york... the yankees that is. I heard on red.com message boards that buster olney said that the yankees claimed Carter after the red sox waived him and is headed to the yankees but wagner is still a red sox. thats kind of bad for the yankees part, are they afraid that Tiexiera is gonna break down and Carter's defense doesn't make him a good outfielder at all so the yankees must've gotten him so he would'nt go to the Mets

Wasn't carter a big part of the red sox's system. He was supposed to be a big part of their future. Anyone know why they waived him?

I think he was part of the Wagner deal and needed to claim waivers to complete the deal.

Chris Carter was unofficially identified as one of the players to be named later in the Wagner deal. In order to be dealt to the Mets in August, the Red Sox had to place him on waivers first. The Yankees claimed him with no intention of acquiring him. The Sox pulled him off waivers because they had no intention of sending him to the Yankees. These are the ramifications:

1. Carter cannot be traded to the Mets right now because he didn't clear waivers. A PTBNL condition in a trade has to be satisfied within six months, so he can be traded during the offseason.
2. The Red Sox lose a little bit of roster flexibility because they have to keep Carter on their 40-man roster. This is probably not going to be an issue, but you never know. This was in Buster Olney's explanation of the waiver claim.
3. The Red Sox cannot call up Carter in September because any PTBNL has to be in the minors from the time the trade is announced till the trade is completed.

The Yankees made the claim because they knew Carter would be pulled back. They can gain very little from this (points 2 and 3), but it also cost them absolutely nothing to do it.
