TORONTO -- The Rays are on a four game losing streak, losing game two of three to the Blue Jays in Toronto. Alex Rios belted a solo homer in the first, but in the second, Carl Crawford jacked his own solo shot to tie it up. The Rays then took the lead in the sixth on a B.J. Upton solo homer, but was tied up in the eighth by Lyle Overbay with HIS own solo homer. With no more score until the fourteenth, John McDonald hit a walk-off RBI single to right to give Dan Wheeler his first loss of the season.

TORONTO -- The Rays have now lost five games in a row, getting swept out of Toronto. The Rays scored two in the first on RBI singles by Evan Longoria and Cliff Floyd, and the Blue Jays showed their muscle scoring all of their runs on homers. Lyle Overbay jacked a solo shot in the third, Alex Rios belted a two-run homer in the sixth to take the lead, and they hit two homers in the seventh, one off the bat of Matt Stairs, and the other by Lyle Overbay, his second of the game. In the ninth inning, B.J. Upton homered off Blue Jays closer B.J. Ryan to narrow the lead, but Ryan finished them off for the save.

BOSTON -- The Rays have ended their skid with a huge victory over the Red Sox in Boston. The Red Sox got on the board first in the second with their only run, a solo blast by Manny Ramirez. The Rays tied it up in the fourth on an RBI single by Carl Crawford, and took the lead in the sixth on a B.J. Upton solo shot. The Rays would score two more in the sixth; Cliff Floyd with an RBI double, and Dioner Navarro with an RBI single. The Rays knocked in two more in the ninth on RBI doubles by Evan Longoria RBI and Carl Crawford, extending the lead to five.

BOSTON -- The Rays have won the first two games of this three game series in Boston, and this game was all homers. The Rays scored first in the fourth with solo shots by B.J. Upton and Evan Longoria. B.J. Upton added to the lead in the next inning with his second hit of the game, a two-run double, but Jason Varitek got the Red Sox those runs back in the bottom of the inning with a two-run shot to right. Jason Bartlett belted a solo shot in the seventh to extend the lead to three, but the Red Sox hit two solo shots in the bottom of the inning, one by Jason Varitek, his second of the game, and one by Kevin Youkilis to come within one run of the Rays lead, but the Rays hang on.

Hideo Nomo: (8 - 3), 2.56 ERA vs. Tim Wakefield: (9 - 13), 6.89 ERA

BOSTON -- The Rays have lost the final game of this series against the Red Sox in Boston thanks to a dominating outing by Tim Wakefield. All three runs in the game were scored in the eighth inning. Akinori Iwamura knocked in the first run in the top of the eighth with an infield RBI single to score Chris Iannetta from third, but the Red Sox came back with two in the bottom of the inning with a J.D. Drew RBI single, and David Ortiz with a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run. Tim Wakefield was dominant, pitching a complete game giving up the one run on four hits, and an outstanding fourteen strikeouts, striking out everyone in the Rays starting lineup at least once.

9/11 - Rays Call Up Three
The Rays have called up three more players today to the major league roster. They are calling up C Humberto Quintero, 1B Dan Johnson, and CF Nathan Haynes. All three will be on with the team in New York tomorrow for the opening game in a three game series against the Yankees.

NEW YORK -- The Rays have defeated the Yankees in the opening game of a three game series in New York. The Rays scored the first runs in the third. Roccl Baldelli belted a lead-off solo shot to take a one run lead, and later in the inning, Carlos Pena hit an RBI single to extend the lead to two. The Yankees stormed back with three in the fourth on a Jorge Posada RBI double, and Jason Giambi with a two-run blast to give the Yankees the lead. In the sixth inning, Cliff Floyd hit a solo homer to tie it up, and Jason Bartlett hit an RBI double to take the lead that would hold as the Rays beat the first place Yankees.

NEW YORK -- The Rays have lost game two of this series to the Yankees, the Yankees winning in walk-off fashion. The Yankees scored the first run in the second inning on a sacrifice groundout off the bat of Alberto Gonzalez to score Hideki Matsui from third. That one run lead would hold until the ninth inning, when with two outs in the top of the ninth, Carl Crawford belted a solo shot to tie the game, but in the bottom of the inning, on the very first pitch to lead-off batter Alex Rodriguez, he jacked a solo shot to left for the walk-off win for the Yankees.

NEW YORK -- The Rays have lost the third and final game of this series in New York, the last game of the season these two teams will play together. The Rays got on the board first in the second with an Evan Longoria solo homer, but the Yankees came back in the bottom of the inning with RBI doubles from Robinson Cano RBI and Hideki Matsui to take a one run lead. B.J. Upton gave the Rays a two-run lead in the fifth on one swing of the bat, a three run blast. Evan Longoria extended that lead to three in the sixth with a solo shot, his second homer of the game. Alex Rodriguez gave the Yankees that run back in the bottom of the inning with his won solo homer. And finally, the Yankees stormed back in the eighth with four runs to take a two-run lead. ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have won game one in a three game series against the Red Sox at home with a comeback walk-off victory. The odd part about this play was that Carl Crawford was on second, and managed to come all the way around to score. Then, in the ninth inning with B.J. Upton on first, Carlos Pena jacked a walk-off two-run homer to center to give the Rays the win they needed.
