Today the Cards were able to get to ace Zach Duke capped with a 2 run double by pitcher Brad Thompson and 3 RBI's by right fielder Ryan Ludwick. The Pirates scored once in the 1st to take an early 1-0 lead but would'nt score again til Ryan Doumit and Andrew McCutchen would go yard off of Ryan Franklin in the 9th but the final score stayed 6-3 in the end.

The Pirates finally broke a game losing streak with a nice win over the Brewers. The Pirates led the whole way beggining with a run off of a double play hit into by Doumit. Milledge had the biggest blow with a 3-run shot off of Manny Parra to make it 4-0 but Corey Hart would make it 4-1 with a homerun off of another Hart, Kevin Hart. Rivas wrapped it up with a solo shot and a career night for Rivas as well. Hanrahan retired the side in the 9th for a 5-2 win in Miller Park.

The Pirates played a good game today against the Cubs. Both teams scored in the 1st but the Cubs got a 2-1 lead after an RBI single by Aaron Miles. But with 2 outs in the 9th down by one, the Pirates got to Heilman for the second time this year when the ex-Cub Mike Fontenot delievered for the Bucs with a 2 run homerun. But things would get tough for Yates in the 10th when with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Aaron Miles once again came through a hit up the middle that went off Yates and he beat it out and the Cubs would beat the Pirates 3-2.

August in Review: Pirates looking to Future

Another rough month for the Pirates has resided in a last place seat and 17 games behind in the division at 57-79 which is actually better than any baseball analys could've seen right now, they were supposed to lose 100 games but they are 6 wins away from preventing that. They had a 10-17 month mainly due to a staggering 150 runs but they still have a good 4.33 ERA despite that. They will now look towards 2009 and beyond.

They have also made their September Call-ups. Heres the list of call-ups:

SP: Virgil Vazquez
RP: Craig Hansen
RP: Carmen Pignatiello
3B- Joe Dillon
LF- Justin Ruggiano
C- Robinzon Diaz(Rookie eligable)

Not really. Like I said, I didn't put free agents on because of the rosters which kind of ruins it but I'll try to change that if I can before free agents but either way no HUGE moves but maybe one good move and maybe a minor one
Scott sarob and Andrew mccutchen might have gave me an ideo

After losing 2 of 3 in Cincinatti, the Pirates got on track at AT&T Park versus the Giants. The Giants got their scoring started with a 3rd inning homerun off of Noah Lowry, other scoring would include a sac fly for Delwyn Young and a homeruns for Garrett Jones. Maholm was dominant firing 8 innings of 1 run ball but Noah Lowry was good too with 8 innings and 3 runs.

The game looked like it was going to be a blowout after the Astros got to Zach Duke for 5 runs and led 5-1 in the 1st. But the Pirates would chip away until Garrett Jones would get a 2 out RBI single in the 8th to tie it and Steve Pearce would finish the Astros off with a clutch 2 run double which was part of a great day for Pearce, they would win by the score 7-2

After blowing a lead, the Pirates were able to have a thrilling victory over the NL West leading Dodgers. It was a pitchers duel between south-paws Randy Wolf and Zach Duke. The Dodgers scored first on an RBI single by Orlando Hudson in the first but the Pirates fought back when Mike Fontenot hit a go-ahead 2 run homerun in the 6th. The Pirates would take on more with an RBI single by Ronny Cedeno but that would'nt be enough in the 9th. Capped by a key error by 3B Ramon Vazquez and a game tying double by Jason Repko, the Dodgers would get to Joel Hanrahan for 2 unearned runs to tie it. But former Dodger Delwyn Young would give the Pirates a walk-off win when the throw by Juan Pierre was too late on a sac fly to center to give the Bucs the 4-3 win.

To alot of people's suprises, the Pirates have been red hot lately. They swept the Dodgers in 4 games and took 2 of 3 from the Astros and have won 7 of 8 coming into this game, and also had the NL player of the week on their side in Ronny Cedeno(.478 AVG, 1 HR). The game would start off rough though as Lopez singled to center to begin the game but Andrew McCutchen let the ball go through his legs to allow Lopez to get to 3rd base. Hardy would drive him in and Braun would drive Hardy in with a 3 run homerun which also gave him his first 100+ RBI single. But down 4-0 at one point, the Pirates chipped away at Braden Looper who came in with a 3.87 ERA and it was all good in the 9th when Milledge had an RBI single which was the decider in a 5-4 victory.

Doumit is glad that the Pirates are surging. He wants to know if they are out of last place yet.

And this next game is gonna be the last of the season because we're not in contention at all and the next series is the last series

Doumit and Milledge don't like the sound of that. They're really close to demanding trades to contenders.

Cedeno, Hart, and Pignatello would rather be here than not be starting at all :D
