I recently created a Marvin Center Fielder who I wanted to be a great fielder but a bad hitter (because he's marvin. I still wanted him to be decent at least). In the beginning year 3, I decided to finally open my suprise bag I had gotten early in the game and had completely forgotten about. I reloaded a few times after getting bad items and got a gambling ring for the first time! So, I immidietly kicked it into gear and started training as much as I could. During Christmas that year (with Sarah. Since I didn't plan on training much I dated a lot), I had gotten yet another Gambling ring! While my played ended up being very good, I could have almost maxed him in every skill (except power which would have been A)) and given him about half of the abilities if I knew earlier that I would have gotten the ring. In the end, I had a Marvin with B power, A/B connect (to lazy to check but I believe I had A. It was D before I got the ring), A Throwing Arm maxed(I had this before the ring. I orginally wanted a guy with an a gun but C fielding and error resistance), A fielding not maxed, and B fielding resistance. He had a nice array of abilities including power hitter, golden glover, cannon arm, maxed clutch hitter, and Spider Catch.

Actually, it wasn't that good. I just realized I mixed up his statistics with another guy. He had B contact, C power (I bought and equped the wrong bat that took away 10 power. Before he had B), B throwing Arm, Center fielder/Catcher, B fielding and C error resistance. He only had a few abilties including power hitter. My other guy who I was talking about was a combination of two of my players . I mixed them up in my head. One was a DH (who has A power, not B) and the other was my center fielder starter (also named Marvin, hence my mistake) who has great fielding.
By the way, I have the center fielder and catcher ability because I needed a fourth out-fielder and a back-up catcher. He's better then my back up catcher but I have too many power hitters and I like my other catchers build better. My back up needs more power and he can hit 280-low 300s.
The waste was that I would have spent more time training and trying to make this guy better before I got the gambling ring. There's only so much one can do in a year and that's where almost all his abilities (besides power, power-hitter and throwing arm which was C before hand) came from. He also had golden glover(dating), trash talk (from work), and great catcher(gamble).

Thus why you should always have a plan of how you're going to create each character, so you don't end up making a bad character too good, or a good character terrible. :P
