7/1 - Red Sox (44-40) @ Rays (54-29): Game 1
Daisuke Matsuzaka: (5 - 8), 6.72 ERA vs. Edwin Jackson: (5 - 4), 3.64 ERA

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have now lost two in a row, getting dominated by Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Red Sox. Julio Lugo knocked in the first run in the third with an RBI single. Kevin Youkilis gave the Red Sox another run in the fourth with a lead-off home run. Carlos Pena hit two solo home runs in the game, one in the fourth, and another in the seventh to tie the game at two. Manny Ramirez won it for the Red Sox in the ninth with a solo blast as Matsuzaka goes for the complete game and defeats the Rays, who open the month of July with a loss.

7/2 - Red Sox (45-40) @ Rays (54-30): Game 3
Nolen*: (-- - --), -.-- ERA vs. Hideo Nomo: (4 - 1), 2.71 ERA

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have been swept by the Red Sox in a three game series in Tampa Bay. The Red Sox had rookie pitcher Nolen* making his major league debut, and he got some run support very early Jacoby Ellsbury hitting a lead-off home run to start the game. Manny Ramirez also hit a solo home run later in the inning giving Nolen* a two-run lead before he even threw his first pitch. The Rays scored their first run in the second on a fielder's choice on a ground ball hit by Cliff Floyd, scoring Evan Longoria from third. The Rays tied it up later in the inning on an RBI double hit by Jason Bartlett, but the Red Sox reclaimed the lead in the third with a Manny Ramirez RBI single to take a one run lead. They would then extend that lead to two in the fourth on a Jason Varitek solo home run. Akinori Iwamura tied it up in the bottom of the inning two RBI double. Rocco Baldelli was injured on this play sliding safely into home plate, and had to be taken out of the game. His condition is currently unknown. The Red Sox retook the lead for good in the sixth on an RBI double hit by Jason Varitek, but Varitek wasn't quite done yet, hitting another home run to lead-off the ninth inning, as the Red Sox sweep the Rays.

Luke Hochevar: (5 - 5), 6.55 ERA vs. Scott Kazmir: (6 - 3), 4.01 ERA

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays are on a horrible four game losing streak, dropping game one of this four game series against the Royals in Tampa Bay. The Royals jumped on Scott Kazmir in the second with a two RBI single by Tony Pena, later followed by a sacrifice groundout bu David DeJesus scoring Miguel Olivo from third. The Rays scored both of their runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Carlos Pena and Evan Longoria, narrowing the lead to one. The Royals scored once more in the ninth on a solo shot by Ross Gload as the Royals hang on to defeat Scott Kazmir and the Rays.

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have ended their losing streak with a huge victory over the Royals. Akinori Iwamura led-off the bottom of the home run. Later in the inning, Evan Longoria blasted a two-run home run to extend the lead to three. The Rays scored once more in the first on an RBI single hit by Dioner Navarro. The Royals finally got on the board in the eighth with a David DeJesus two-run home run, taking James Shields out of the game, but the Rays got those runs back in the bottom of the inning with a two-run double by Carlos Pena, and an RBI single by Dioner Navarro as the Rays end their skid and keep the Yankees behind them, who were half a game back going into today's game,

Nope. He came in a very close second, even though his stats are WAY better than Hafner's. And I didn't realize it had the other players, too, so I'll go ahead and edit them into that last post.

Great Jimenez: (4 - 3), 5.12 ERA vs. Andy Sonnanstine: (7 - 1), 2.80 ERA

ST. PETERBURG -- The Rays have won game three of this four game series against the Royals in Tampa Bay. The Rays came up with four runs in the fourth on a Carl Crawford RBI single, followed by a three-run blast off the bat of Cliff Floyd. In the fifth inning, Eric Hinske blasted a lead-off home run, his first of the season. B.J. Upton picked up an RBU later in the inning on a sacrifice fly scoring Jason Bartlett from third, and Carlos Pena capped off a three-run fifth with a solo home run. Andy Sonnanstine was dominant, taking a perfect game into the sixth that was broken up by Miguel Olivo with a line drive down the left field line off the glove of the diving Evan Longoria, ruled a hit. The Royals finally got on the board in the seventh with a two-run homer off the bat of Jose Guillen, but that didn't bother Andy Sonnanstine as he went the distance for a two-run, three-hit complete game.

Luke Hochevar: (6 - 5), 6.29 ERA vs. Matt Garza: (5 - 5), 3.29 ERA

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Rays have won the final game of this series, and their final home game before the All-Star break. The Royals jumped on Garza early in the first, scoring all three of their runs. Jose Guillen hit a two-run double, and Ross Gload an RBI single, to take a very early three run lead. Carl Crawford got the Rays on the board in the second with a lead-off home run, as he would have a big day. In the fifth inning, B.J. Upton narrowed the lead to one run with an RBI double. In the sixth, Carl Crawford who already had a home run in this game, belted an RBI triple to tie the game at three. Crawford came within a double of the cycle, but couldn't get it. Right after Crawford's triple, Cliff Floyd knocked him in with an RBI single, and the Rays win by one, taking three of this four game series.

NEW YORK -- The Yankees have won game one of two here in New York, narrowing the Rays division lead to two games. The Yankees scored all four of their runs in the fourth, being enough to hold down the Rays. Alex Rodriguez started it off with a solo blast, later followed by a two run-jack off the bat of Jason Giambi to make it 3-0, and Melky Cabrera capped it off with an RBI double. The Rays scored their only runs in the seventh with a two-run homer by Cliff Floyd, as Chien-Ming Wang dominated the Rays with a complete game.
