They would never trade Manny, he's one of the best play-off hitters of all time and a great hitter, and they are the best team in the game to this point. I thought the Yankees would trade for a bullpen pitcher, but it's been amazing recently. I believe under 2 era for the bullpen in June. Hughes has had a 1.1 era in the bullpen, Aceves is pitching well again, Robertson's doing a fine job, Moe's Moe again and as good as ever, Coke's back to what he did last year, and Bruney's slowly coming back. The only bullpen pitcher with an era over 4 (that's up in the majors) is Tomko, but he's the long reliver. So if it carries on like this, they probably won't make a trade, or a minor one. But I'd expect a small, above average reliver. The Yanks have a rich minor league system and they could get a veteran with 1 year left for a few small prospects.

Doc deserves to go to a team that will play in october. Jays just ain't doing it.

why don't you like them?
wells i understand, but rios?

and maybe the giants can get doc if he randomly becomes available  .
Hey, we were the "dark horse in the running for Sabathia last year...

I would have loved to see Sabathia play with the Giants. That rotation would have been beast and Sabathia is a pretty good hitter.

Doc could carry a team into October. But after pitching 220+ innings, he would be pretty tired and fail in October like Sabathia.

heh, sabathia could be that big bat we were looking for. well, at least the big part

and doc, pretty much as literally as you can get without him actually doing it, carried the jays' pitching staff. (burnett only performs in contract years, go look at his stats.) He's easily one of, if not the best, pitcher in the AL, and arguably the majors.

I wish the Cards could get a relief pitcher to solidify their bullpen in the 7th and 8th innings.

I hope the Cubs make a huge last minute deal. That'd be so awesome. Even though Reed is out, I'd still like to say their good on offense. Soriano's gotten red hot, Fukudome's been hot lately, and Bradley's getting there, so I'd be content with possibly one more trade for a pitcher. I'm not talking Roy Halladay (although that'd be awesome), but just someone.

I think the Phillies are going to get screwed in the postseason. Think about it. The Phillies' best pitchers are all lefties. The other playoff teams will be the Dodgers, the Cardinals and/or Cubs, and whoever wins the wild card. Most of the Dodgers' bats are righties, except Andre Ethier. The Cubs are one of the most righty-heavy lineups in the majors. And the Cardinals... Pujols and Holliday. Enough said.

Plus, now that the Dodgers have Sherill, and the Cubs have Grabow, they have a legitimately good lefty to get Utley, Howard, and Ibanez out.
We'd probably match up well with the Giants or Rockies, but that's about it.

At least we have Ben Francisco, so we could maybe have a platoon or something.
