That was entertaining. The only thing I think you should have done to make it more realistic was to make it so that your player hits the ball past the CF, who then throws the ball to the cutoff man, Jeter. During this time, your player has already reached second on a double.

(Now for the interesting part)

Jeter sees the runner rounding third trying to reach home, and knows that the runner is pretty slow. He decides to try to throw the ball home and the worst thing occurs, A THROWING ERROR!!!

Jeter throws the ball low towards the catcher and he cant get to it because the ball was thrown pretty low. To make matters worse, the ball hits the catcher in the knee and this causes the catcher to fall!!! The ball bounces off his knee and goes in a different direction. Rivera, realizing this (that his catcher is injured and cant run now) tries to cover home plate while the third baseman goes to get the ball.

No one was covering third base while this was all going on and Rob Diesel is on his way home. The third baseman throws the ball to Rivera who is covering home. It is a very close play almost a sure out, but as Rivera tries to tag you, you skillfully slide into home plate while dodging the tag!!!

Then the rest of the story could happen the way you wrote it. I just think this ending is more realistic. (alright, except for the injured catcher part....pretend the shin guard was loose or something.... I dont know)
