sjax is correct. After the Vice President, it's the Speaker of the House, then the President pro tem. After them the line of succession goes to the Cabinet officers, in the order of the creation of the departments, starting with the Secretary of State, ending with the Secretary of Homeland Security. That's all that's specified in legislation.

Redsoxman, perhaps you're thinking of Secretary of State Haig's bizarre comment after Reagan was shot that he was constitutionally next in line after the Vice President. That caused quite a stir at the time as Haig was clearly wrong.
