resurrecting the expos for one more game!

this is a game between the florida marlins and the montreal expos. instead of creating each player one by one, i made an arrange team with all former expos players that were still active in major league baseball during the 2008 season (and thus already in the game). only a few stats and skills/abilities were altered to reflect the 08 season. i chose the marlins because they more or less took over the expos place in MLB in 1993. it's a cpu vs cpu game. i would've played it myself but i wouldn't have gotten the nice camera views

the game time should read 12:35pm but instead reads 0:35pm... lol! i had found an even better glitch in the first version of mlbpp. in the practice screen, i had russell martin's character doing some crazy acrobatic stuff but i never recorded it and never managed to duplicate it.

Actually, the Expos were replaced by the Washington Nationals in 2005.

It all started in '92 in the expansion draft where the marlins took Bret Barberie from MTL. The Expos became the best team in the majors in '94 being a whopping 34 games over .500 before the strike ended the season and the dismantling of the franchise begain. A few years later Moises Alou and Cliff FLoyd went to Florida where they helped the Marlins win the World Series in 1997. in '99 Jeffrey Loria became the Expos' chairman, CEO.

In '02 Loria purchased the Marlins then turned around sold the Expos, an apparent first step to eliminate the franchise. Loria moved the entire Expos management and coaching staff, including manager Jeff Torborg, to Miami leaving the Expos without personnel, scouting reports, and office equipment, including the team's computers! Subsequently, in 2003, the Marlins won their second World Series. WTF?

On November 15, 2004, arbitrators struck down a lawsuit by the former team owners against MLB and former majority owner Loria, ending the legal fight to keep the Expos in Montreal. The MLB owners approved the move to Washington in a 28-1 vote on December 3. Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos cast the sole "nay" vote, resenting the franchise's relocation and intrusion into the Baltimore/D.C. market.

what i don't get is why MLB decided to expand the league all while neglecting dedicated fans of great teams? Especially in a city rich in baseball history such as MTL?! Oh right, franchises are merely billion dollar businesses, fans are just collateral damage.

good idea. did you see the little league world series last year? looks like theyve got alot of young talent on the islands!!

Flying to/from Hawaii would take a long time, especially for the Red Sox, Yanks, PIRATES, and other east coast teams, so I don't think it'll happen any time soon.

while we're at it, why not put a team in Japan!
