lol, copy it into the main article later so when you change it we all know what was said...

O'Neil was classic Yanks... he's the guy who has the Sparkplug ability for that team... and it really worked.

i think the problem with yankees fans now are that they arent ready to step out of the spotlight. they just arent the dominant team they used to be in the 1990's and early 2000's. and they just cant admit it :).

And I think the Red Sox fans still don't give them the credit they deserve. They consistently downplay the history. True, they aren't the juggernaut they were, but they do have the potential and are always a championship contender.

the yanks are on a downward spiral in the playoffs and i wouldnt be surprised if they dont make the playoffs this year. their last world series win was 2000. their last AL pennant was 2003. their last divisional title was in 2006. they barely won the wild card last year.

and to red sox fans the yankees PAST is the PAST,not the present, the PAST, and while they might have been good in the PAST theyre starting to be NOT so good in the present.

So as for present, the Red Sox are last in the division.

They barely won the wild card because of INJURIES. They had AAA pitchers starting tons of games. Add the slow starts of cano and abreu, they were 21-29. The red sox barely won the divison last year! The yanks margin in the wild card was 3 TIMES the margin the sox won the division. I would take this year's team over last years in a heartbeat. I really think the yankees are winning the division this year.

its seven games into the season and the red sox havent played at home yet (hmmm, have the yankees?). and just in case this is your retaliation, yes homefield advantage does play a factor in most if not all baseball games.

Unfortunately, both Sports Illustrated and ESPN magazine picked the Yankees to win the division. They're usually wrong.

But I agree with The-F's analysis. The biggest debates are the CF, and no. 2 starters. Depending on Dice-K's adjustments and Pettitte's handling of the offseason, it could sway either way. Most Sox fans love Ellsbury, but he's tremendously overrated. He could be good, but if so, it wouldn't be for a couple years. His last year was flukey. He won't hit .300. He doesn't have much power. His speed is great, but that's a little trivial (Joey Gathright?). And fielding, Cabrera is still better.

you cant really say ellsbury is overrated because he has played in what, 40 games. even at that his unbelivable ability to hit in the postseason is almost unheard of for someone so young.

ps.- the-f, you forgot to mention one of the red sox most biggest weapons, ortiz.

woops. I did forgot ortiz>matsui obviously. I hate it when people say some guys are clutch, great postseason hitters, etc. The playoffs are all about luck. I personally believe that there is no such things as being clutch. The only way the moment affects you is if you start thinking about it and don't focus on hitting or throwing the ball. You may not overrate ellsbury, but I would say the majority of people do due to his postseason performance.

I don't HATE the Yankees, I HATE the fairweather fans that only are Yankees fans when they win.
