Anyone have a foolproof way to do this? I started out with a good sense character, and after some turns studying, I practiced a little, getting my contact and fielding to 'E' level. I am playing 3B, and the only guy at 3B is a year 3 player with stats worse than mine (except a trajectory of 4...not sure if that's good, with F power and all).

Why am I not on the roster? I've made 10 players, and maybe 1 or 2 have made it on the roster during the first year...can't remember if its something specific I had or did. Any ideas?

It's all about the amount of weeks you spend practicing, I dont know the exact amount, but once the coach arrives, there's only about 2-3 weeks that you *can't* spend practicing. Stats don't really matter at all.

Also, I suggest upgrading power first through strength training, and h-recovery because it is one of the only things that won't be aided much by gambling.

Yes, practicing nearly every week once the coach arrives will give you the near lock of joining the team in year 1.

Of course, if you're having issues with finals (never got the mind-training necklace), or with money (having to work more), then you may be spending 2-3 extra weeks to recover, keeping you in JV...

You'll notice when you practice that after your point gains it tells you your coach evaluation has gone up. This is ultimately what puts you on the roster; raising your coach evaluation. And as posted by the guys above, you need to practice to do this. I believe there are some items that raise evaluation but I don't know if they're available that early in the game, or if they're even worth fooling with.

Are there really item's that raise evaluation?

I can think of only the shiny fragrance and prince's necklace, but I thought they were only for scout's (he's probably the only mildly important one)? Maybe not?

This is why I feel its so easy to just open my mouth and let the words tumble out, because I know if I'm wrong someone will be quick to correct me. :lol: :wink:

Sorry guys, not trying to give out bad info. I was about 90% sure there was something for scout eval and coach eval, but I could very well be mistaken.

You could be right. I just never paid attention to coach's eval, as it is ten times easier to max out on. It's also kind of hard to read, because it's usually.: hmm...

Yeah, usually after I make the roster I don't pay any attention to it. But it is a little funny to see it change to "All right..." after your player gets good. Its nice to know that he can speak english!

The scout's comments all seem very egotistical, with things like:

"Good thing I kept an eye on you."

I know the girls' expressions change on their level of lovestruckness...

start out with the ><" expression and end with the dreamy-eyed *blush* look...

maybe the guys are a bit more subtle??? Then again... Stone may be just that... a stone.

Well, I tried running the game through 6 times...never made it on the team in the first year. The thing is - I don't play Success to get uber characters - that was fun once or twice; but overall they come into the majors at waaaay too high a level (and pay rate for my small-market teams). I want to create some utility guys, maybe some role-filling guys, and then maybe make a mid-level team out of them and see how they compete (simming).

So I don't use gambling or max out stats; and until the recovery necklace is available, I can't train repeatedly. I'm also trying to land the tutoring job for the first time (highest score on final, and no job), so I'm spending some weeks studying and others with Annie. I guess this guy just can't make it on the team right away.

Of course, I did finally land the tutoring job for the first time, so that's cool. Wonder what the formula is for the mob running job...

Playing into the second year, as soon as Rex joins the team, now I'm competing with him and another generic 3B, all for one position...nice.

I'm really surprised this is even a possibility of not making the team unless you totally mess up. I have not made it onto the team once or twice the whole time and I start over after that. You only need level 2 bookworm for the tutoring job so you don't need to study at all after the first few turns. Just do Annie's homework.

On the tutoring issue - I think my problem is, I never just waited for the random event. After I aced the exam, I would go out and look for a job...not realizing that I'd just get pizza/cafeteria worker, no matter what.

After you've played a while and gotten good, it's probably hard to recall the things like missing the team, or failing completely and not even getting drafted/signed...but after figuring things out, since this game is very easy - both to get a player pretty super-charged in Success mode, and to win games/WS in Season mode - I am trying to take some steps to keep the game playable, challenging, interesting, etc. Most choices I try to make realistically, and not just for the maxing out aspects.

I've also only done about 7 characters so far, so I'm not really an expert yet...between other Wii games, PC games, and the old SNES emulator, I only play MLBPP intermittently.

The best way to make the team as either a hitter or pitcher is going to strength training 4 or 5 times and then a training based on technique once or twice.

I always make the team 1st year, while it is a bit boring my run up to the first year games is usually pretty close to the same each time -

* Aug/Sept/Oct study
* use powerin x 2
* Nov study
* Dec - if start game with 3 powerin, use powerin and study. If start game with 2 powerin, rest.
* Jan - if studied in Dec, rest. If rested in Dec, study
* Feb weeks 1 & 2 work (if rested in Jan), work 1 and rest week 2 if studied in Jan)
* Feb week 3 rest (if worked week 2), or work (if rested week 2)
* Feb week 4 strength train
* Mar week 1 save/reload Bison until get both recovery and mind training necklaces
* Mar week 1 - 4 strength train
* Apr week 1 rest (+99 strength hyper-recovery)
* Apr week 2 - 4 strength train
* get added to team Apr week 4
* May week 1 study (Annie's homework)
* May week 2 study (Annie's homework)
* May week 3 strength train
* May week 4 game and then rest (+99 strength hyper-recovery)
