I think that's about right. The hard part with Honus would be arm strength as there are so little records. I think theres a very good chance we'll be doing both unless Cal Ripken can pull through. I like Cal Ripken, but I just don't view him as the best. And Lance, there is no way that would be the case, you really have to try to look at it subjectively and compare him to others with A stats. He isn't a perfect player.

How many SS have better career RFs than him?

Honus fielding stats: 12 arm str 14 fld 9/10 E RES
Banks fieding stats: 11 arm str 9/10 fld 12/13 E RES.

anyway, We already have big, slow, sluggers, I would prefer some glovemen and speedsters to balance it out.

If Honus did wear a glove, it was certainly nothing more than a small batting-glove like glove, not the size of Banks's and definetly not the size of today's.

Most people back in the 1950's did say that Banks was an average glove at best. Honus was Gold Glove level. (When I first got into this argument, er, discussion, I was not expecting people to think that Ernie Banks's fielding was better than Honus )

I'd sooner pick Cal Ripken than Ernie Banks. Maybe even Arky Vaughan (do you know who he was?).

But if you really want to do Banks, just go ahead, I hope you at least do Honus as a backup.

O.K. you convinced me, I'm voting Honus. Actually I was voting Honus the whole time, I was just messing around. I would rather have a great fielder with speed for this team because of the number of sluggers that are on the team. I would also be voting for Ty Cobb for Center Field for this reason as well. We need some good 1, 2 guys in the lineup to get on base, so that Lou and Babe can knock them in. Assuming that they would be batting 3, 4.

You barely use a second catcher. How often would a third catcher play?

As often as we will be using the other backup players on this team. I think the main reason for the backups is so people can have a choice of who they want to start. I don't remember there being that much of a demand for him when it was being discussed.
