Is it possible to S/L prior to opening a surprise bag and get a different item?

For example, after completing the find dog job from Jaws and getting a surprise bag, can I save before opening and reload if I don't get the gambler's ring I want?

I do it all the time to make sure I get the gambler's ring, so yes. I open the surprise bag. If it's not a gambler's ring, I exit without saving and try again until I get a gambler's ring.

EDIT: Oh, I didn't read your question right. Yes, you can save, then come back and reload until you get the gambler's ring.

And here I thought I had to keep doing jobs for jaw until I got a ring inside a surprise bag... very handy information to know.

i didn't even know about S/Ling for a while. Every time i do it, though, i get exactly what i wanted on the first try, except for the time i got safe pitch for my center fielder...

Then you my friend are the luckiest person I've ever met. I've relaoded over 200 times and no gambling ring yet. My last player I tried to get one was ironic and annoying. I got one from patty and the day after I went and opened my suprise bag. What did I get but another gamblers ring!

actually, this is all i've S/Led for:
Power Hitter
Spray Hitter
Gold Glover
all at 30%-45%.
No gambler's ring.

Here's a tip to get a Surprise Bag. When your doing the Steakhouse RE and your at the lake and it tells you to close your eyes. Pick: Open your eyes and check. Then Pick: Just double? and she'll give you $200, +5 Stamina, and a Surprise Bag.

in patty's arc, if you give her the gift that ben gives you, you get SoH/SoP and a surprise bag.

yep. save before because sometimes you don't get the surprise bag. (when a bear chases you away)
