Nice, nice, keep them coming.

BTW I just confirmed Break Up DP via Challenge Sarah when she asks you to become a big leaguer.

yeah, but the total might be a bit impossible with the "default" study and work strategy most of us use for the beginning of the game. unless there is some way to get another position switch later in the game, it seems there would need to be sacrifices made to get this ability.

I'd have to agree here. When I made Ultimate he had good stats to start success mode and it didn't change a thing when I changed positions. I think asking for higher stats then what he already had would be a bit much.

As for unlocking it by actually playing your 2nd pos, I don't think it seems all that inconsistent with what we've seen posted here. And as we know, simply playing with gear equipped doesn't guarentee that you'll unlock anything. Someone can play an entire run through Success with Marvin's bat and not gain a thing if he doesn't perform the required action (I know from experience  ). I see this situation the same way, but instead of having a piece of equipment, you need a 2nd position.

Ultimate's the Poor Sense/High Stats guy right? I assume he must have been an all D or E at the time of the event, so in that case I agree. Anything more than that is too much to ask too early in the game. Thx for the info.

Well I consider it a big difference in game design to unlock hidden abilities from gear as opposed to acquiring new abilities based on game performance or experience. I just don't see why the designers would stop at 2nd Position 4 if they made it that way. Why can't I get BL Hitter by hitting a grand slam or Stealing 4 by stealing enough bases?

As far as we know all abilities acquired from games are unlocked from bats and gloves. If I were the game designer, and I wanted to make 2nd Position 4 obtainable through games, I would just embed it in a glove as an unlockable ability. Maybe even set the bar to fill up according to innings played at a secondary position while wearing the glove. Take a look at Good/Great Catcher. Those are sort of intrinsic to the C position, yet merely playing in a lot of games as a catcher won't give you the ability; You need to wear the right glove AND meet certain conditions.

I see your point, but even if it was obtainable through equipment you would still need to perform the required action. In this case, it would seem to be playing your 2nd position. The problem with making 2nd position 4 obtainable through equipment is the fact that you need to have a 2nd position before you could receive any type of increase, which doesn't follow any of the other ability gains that I know of. But I suppose that the developers could've made the criteria that you need a 2nd pos, you need the appropriate bat/glove, and then you need to play your 2nd position (if its obtainable at all through playing games).

I received good back to back hitter. (forgot what the initials were)

Was an ability received from one of the books. (secrets of hitting I think)

The explanation of the ability was that if the guy in front of you got a hit, you hit better.

I will make a point that BL hitter and Walk Off Htr both have 3 versions that look IDENTICAL on the "edit special abilities" screen. And 2 of them (first and last) have the exact same text ><".

From experience, I know that you won't get bases loaded hitter from hitting a grand slam.

Yeah, MDS - I was going to point out that same thing.

It confused me when I went to edit Kei Igawa and make him the perfect player with all A's and every ability.

But that screwed me when I went to player season mode and did a dream draft (forgot about the editting), I quickly restored it and restarted the season.

I've posted an explanation for that here, but basically the difference is getting a contact boost, power boost, or both.

How do you even get 2nd position 3?

I got the ability from gambling, but I don't think the 2nd position 3 block lit up either - or maybe I just missed it?

2nd position-3 i would think is like clutch level 3, the default level and doesn't go bold.

Has anyone gotten Vs Runners 4 with a pitcher (top row of blue abilities on the data screen)? I looked at the description by going into player edit mode, and it says "good pitching with runnners on base" or similar. Sounds similar to w/RISP (other than not being limited to runners in scoring position), but you can't obtain it in Success Mode on the Update screen.
