The only times I've reloaded for abilities:
33% for Gold Glover, got it 1st try.
45% for Power Hitter, 1st try again.
38% for Spray Hitter, again first try...

Sorry I haven't responded to this sooner, but the method can sometimes be difficut to explain fully, but I'll try my best.

It's all really about timing, from when you open the Yes/No gambling screen, up to the final stop of the roulette wheel. If it's a 10% chance of success, there will be 1 attribute for every 9 X's, which basically means that the timing has to be right for this, and sometimes, you can get away with mistime if you do the joystick method correctly.

I for one use the background music to judge when I should judge the spin, usually, just before it goes into that main melody when the other instruments kcik in. Odd, yes, but it works.

The joystick method is also quite useful, where by hoding the joystick either up or down, it will determine if the roulette will spin another half spin, or just stop, which makes a HUGE difference, especially with that 10% chance spin. It also helps to press/hold the C button, for it makes it spin faster, but if you hold the joystick while holding the button, timing will change enough to where you may have to try again.

I know it sounds a bit confusing, but if anyone else has any questions, just ask, well, here would be better, because I don't mind sharing what I know.

Oh yea, pretty much the same thing. I haven't fully got it down, but I usually get it in less than 10 tries if I'm having an off day.

What you do is either wait 10 seconds when the players creen first opens up and the music starts playing, or 7-10 seconds from when you open the item menu. If you get the Gambler's Ticket, just shave of a second and you should get the Gambler's Ring, but with this method, it's strictly timing, not even the C button helps. Same thing goes with getting the books, it's all about adding or shaving seconds.

Hmm, it seems strange that someone like this would be impleemented into the game. My guess is that it was just a coincidence that it worked out like that.

when opening a surprise bag, i count to between 7 or 8 after i scroll over it starting at 0. I tend to get more secrets books, and gambling rings.

In fact, it was. I was just bored one time trying to make an Uber character in 07, and found this out when using the Gambler's Ring, or getting it at that.

But yea, some may think it's not solid, but it works.

When looking for a SoP I once got 5 gambler rings before I got the book... having to reload after getting gamblers rings is painful. I was afraid I had used up my ring quota for the year, but I already had my ring on that player, and needed the book.

My record for gambling rings is the very first two times in a row. (I was going for SoP of course)

what do gamblers rings do.
do they let you gamble on the outcome of something a certain amount of times?
