I know it sounds silly and the answer might be quite obvious but I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere: In Season mode, is it possible to choose the season length? (not necessarily the number of games, but say, short, medium or long season) From what I can see, the only option is to play all 162 games but I wanted to play a shorter season before starting Life mode.

I don't believe that's an option. If you start a real team season mode, it is the ACTUAL 2008 schedule for that team. You can fast-forward the season, but that's it.

Yeah, just use the schedule to skip ahead and only play the games you want.

Yeah but it's still too bad...'cause my stats and record will be affected by having the games simulated rather than played. Strangely enough, several older games on systems like the SNES had options to play shorter seasons...I wonder why most newer baseball games don't have such an option and require you to play all 162 games.

Yeah...I haven't said you couldn't play all 162 games if so you chose. But there could be an option to play shorter seasons if, for whatever reason (you don't play often, you want to play several short seasons with many different teams, etc.) you'd wish to do so.

If you want to go through a basketball size season because you don't have enough time, they should let you do that. no football size seasons though

I don't really see the point. What's the difference stats-wise if you play a 25 game season or if you play 25 games and sim the rest of a 162 game season? Either way the stats are largely meaningless.

A baseball season is 162 games, so why would we only play say 100? No authenticity.

With all the events, inter league, All-Star game, ect., I just don't see it happening mate. Especially when you consider Power Pros strives to make the game as realistic as possible (not the graphics or any mode but Season, but still, its as closer as any console video game can get). This reminds me of a similar, but much harsher conversation last year.

i suppose you could go play league mode with you and 5 CPU teams and play an old fashioned NL/AL West/East league.

"162 games? That many?!?"

"Normally yes but the players are getting lazy so we're only playing 61 this year."

Well, the difference is if you play all games of a 25-game season, your stats will be the result of you playing the game whereas playing 25 games of a 162-game season and simulating the rest will result in your stats being mostly computer-generated.



Yeah I know a shorter season wouldn't be "authentic" but if you don't have time to play every single day and you don't want to start a season that'll take you 2 years to complete, it would be cool to have an option to, say, play one 3-game series against every team in your league for a total of 40-45 games or something like that. In several older games, you could play either a "short" season or a full season. NHL games by EA Sports also enable you to do that, which I like because I enjoy playing seasons with several different teams.
