7/2 - Cubs Place Lee on 15-Day DL; Call Up Fontenot
Derrek Lee has been placed on the 15-Day DL due to a broken collarbone suffered when he slid into second base attempting to steal. He was safe, but suffered the injury and was taken out instantly.

"This injury will take more than fifteen days to heal, I assure you." Said the doctor treating Derrek's injury.

The Cubs have called up second baseman Mike Fontenot back to the team who was with them when the season began. This is the third player to be on the DL for the Cubs this season, Alfonso Soriano still currently on the DL from a similar injury last month. Cubs fans are now pleading for some trades to be made.



Anyone got any ideas for trades? I'm considering trading for Aurilia and Lincecum of the Giants, but Aurilia has a higher contract while Lincecum is cheap. I was also considering Sean Casey who is cheap and a pitcher from the Red Sox, but Beckett and Matsuzaka are expensive so that's not a good deal. Anyone got any ideas for a trade I can make for a good, cheap first baseman, and a good, cheap starting pitcher all in one?

What about Manny Delcarmen?

Cole Hamels and R. Howard.....
Both cheap....
Or P. Fielder and B. Sheets....
Or J. Morneau and F. Liriano...

you could trade for lincecum and brian wilson or some decent backup fielder, then trade them if you want for a good 1B.

Yeah just get Lincecum......(what is your rotation?)
And who is your "trade bait?"

In my franchise I was able to buy Lincecum for 20000 points.

My current rotation is:

1. Carlos Zambrano
2. Ted Lilly
3. Rich Hill
4. Jason Marquis
5. Sean Marshall

I'm okay with everyone except Marshall (124 STAM). Marquis has 146 STAM but that's close to 150 which would be an A. Marshall only goes 4 innings most of his starts. For trade bait, I'd trade either Murton or Patterson. And I have a lot of relief pitchers. I'd trade Pignatiello (sucks), or Guzman (better, but still sucks).

The Red Sox are desperate for a left fielder. I got a 2 star chance of successful trade with Patterson for Casey.

GET LINCECUM, and possibly Cain.

If I'm going to trade for Lincecum, of course I'd go after Cain to, they're both cheap. Lincecum is 390 and Cain I believe is 650.

Yeah get rid of anyone who isn't worth their pricetag...
And there are better options than Casey, but where did D. Lee go?

What about waiting for him to come back or getting a backup instead of a major player....
And a backup 1B (who is the Giants backup?) with Cain and Lincecum...

Ortmeier or Frandsen, thats why i said backup fielder, not necessarily 1B.

Isn't Ortmeier a dual player....like 1B, CF?
Because that would be a great backup player...
