With only 2 games left, the Yankees are sending off those Majestic, hollowed grounds in true Yankee fashionl. Within the last two weeks, Yankee stadium has seen plenty of wonders. Jeter getting the most hits at Yankee stadium in the 6-th to the last game, followed by Rivera gaining the most saves in history! Mariano will most likely get 5 saves as he has 4 already this week! A-Rod gained his 2400th hit today in the 2nd-last game! The Yanks have won 5-6 so far in the last week! But the greatest game this week so far was today. I have seen a hell lot of great games this year, all of the best ones in my opionion. I've seen the game that started the stache, Giambi's 2-run homer, I've seen Betimits beautiful walk-off, I've seen Molinas fantastic walk-off hit by pitch and I've seen Gardners walk-off. True, I've also seen the worst game of the year as well, but how lucky can you be with 12 games! But this one beat it all! I've gone to a lot of games since my first against the A's two years ago, the game that starter my love of the game. Maybe they've lost, but it was incredible. Since then, I've taken advantage of the many games I've gone too. I really haven't set back and enjoyed them, I've just gotten used to them. Well today I decided that this was going to be like my first game. I came early and just sat, taking it all, the glory that is Yankee stadium, that eery and wonderful feeling that electrifies your body, the rush of adreniline. There is nothing in the world like it. And god was this a good game to get into! A rookie with a hell lot of potential and less then a 1 ERA in 20+ innings, and he pitched a beutiful shut-out 7 innings. The problem? So did the other pitcher and the relivers. The relivers did too and Damion and Bruney were fantastic in relief. My last time seeing Mariano was magical as usual and I stood up the whole at bat, taking my last time seeing this legend at Yankee stadium. But the real thrill came the next inning. Jeter was hit by pitch and Gardner pinch ran for him. Garder stole second, Abreu was walked, and it was first and second with no outs. A-Rod hit a scary grounder that almost got himself into a double play. Fourtenetly, the shortstop threw a throw that brought him off the bag. A-Rod was safe and Gardner was at third. A-Rod stole second and Giambi struck out. Nady was walked and Cano was up with bases loaded an no outs. He hits the first pitch for a walk-off single, the best hit I've ever seen in person.
So, my fine friend, I'll miss you Yankee Stadium. It's only been 2 years and I wish I knew you longer. There has been nothing like my time with you, and here I am with my last words for you. It's hard to say goodbye, and I'll always remember the incredible games I've had the fortune. Good Bye Yankee Stadium, we'll always miss and love you. Sorry we couldn't bring you a play-off this time around.

Don't worry it won't be the last game you'll see tomorrow at Yankee Stadium!

No, I'm not going to that game. That was the last game I'LL personally see in person. I wish Yes was doing the last game, not espn. I know some people don't like him, but I love Michael Kay. He's very knowledgable and no one prepares more. He literally stays up all night every night looking for all these small, little statistics about everyone, from the star of the team to the back-up catcher just in case he plays. He often will say some statistic about one of the players in the announcing booth (Paul O Neil, David Cone) that they didn't even know. So, In my opionion, its a shame ESPN got it. Plus, they'll keep bringing up the season where they should just talk about the stadium and this game. I really don't need to hear about their terribels eason the last game I watch.

now for some ranting :

how could they tear yankee stadium down? It can easily be considered a national historic landmark!
if steinbrenner (george or hank) thinks it will bring more fans, it won't.
now more people despise him because he tore down someplace that is a face of NYC!
it is not just baseball, though...

the "greatest game ever played" (football) was played there too!

come on, guys. you know this is horrible.

I don't think there's any chance that it won't be the same there. It's the fans that make Yankee Stadium Yankee Stadium, not any ghost.

but its also the legacy that makes it.

But why wouldn't it continue to the new stadium? The same players continue as does the legacy. As you could tell in the last games, the fans will continue to be the same fans they always were. 100 years from now, maybe the same argument will be brought up again as the Yanks get ready to move again.

there will never be another greatest game ever played though. there will never be another "Luckiest Man on the Face of The Earth" speech by Gehrig. There will never be another Muhammad Ali championship fight. Here's something I found online:

That's not saying anything though. I read an article and Yankee stadium is by far the most historic park in the Ameircas. Fenway and Wringley don't come close in terms of events, WS, and other sports games played. There are 3 other stadiums, 2 in Canada and 1 in the U.S., that compare and could make an argument for the most historic stadium in the U.S.

Not any football stadiums.
Maybe Madison Square Garden, but that's it.
