Let's avoid double+triple posting from here on out, if you have something more to say just edit your previous post. If you are trying to bump your post, wait at least a day before posting again.

Unfortunately, having a top poster list has encouraged a ton of nonsense postings which has in turn ruined this site a little bit, even though I still love it. I only really ever look at success mode or password exchange 2008 anymore because I just can't keep up with the number of posts being made. I used to view everything.

Too bad it's not like a credit system, where the moderators give credit where credit is due. Look at RSoohoo for instance. Lots of info brought to the table, and probably not even top 50 in postings. (I don't know)

IMO, these are the people that should be at the top of some list on front page.

I couldnt agree more.

I bet if you look through the post histories of the top posters, and youll find a ton of absolute nonsense posts, and only a few quality informational posts. All that does is eat bandwidth, and make it too hard to actually get good info from topics, since to find the quality info, you have to sift through 20-30 teenage conversation posts.

Lets aim for quality over quantity- this is a great site, keep it strong by keeping on topic, and posting only when you really have something to contribute.

Hey, my post aren't trash  ! However, as I mentioned before, I strongly believe and agree that having such a list motivates people to post more just to appear to be one of the "top" members. While I wouldn't say that most of the top posters post are full of junk post, there are some exceptions and the more we focus on rank, the more of these post there will be. I occasionally and motivated by this list on the member screen and I shouldn't be. My goal much more-so though is to really try to make this forum come more and more alive and try to make as many improvements as I can (while having a good time). It is a very rare occasion (I can think of two days, both of which I regret) that I really tried to boost my post count (although most of my meaningless post are in my own threads that I want to be bumped haha). I plan to now completely ignore it as while I think it has very little affect on me, it doesn't hurt to make it affect me even less.
I was actually very surprised by the way when I saw Rshoo's post. He has added so much content to the site that he just stays in your mind as one of the most active posters where he really just has such meaningful post that they stay in the top of your mind. By the way, I'm sure he's in the top 50 with 100 post.
An example of how you can have a lot of post and still have a huge amount of content is J-Gao. Every single post he makes reveals a lot, and I feel that is what is most important. That is what I strive to be like.

i try to respond to a lot of posts, but i try to make it so it isn't just "I don't know" or something like that.
occasionally i'll say "yeah, i agree", but thats because i do agree, and that i don't have anything else to say.

Then why respond? If all youre going to do is reinforce whats already been said, then theres really never any need to post "I agree" and leave it at that... that adds nothing but a +1!!!! post.

but that means that it was such a good point, i have nothing to say, as it was a quality post, so i was just voicing my opinion and agreeing with a quality post, which is what we are arguing about right now.
