It's a lot of upgrades to take in but I thought Honor made the most sense.

Turn 16 - 3600 B.C. (Ancient Era) (cont.)

...Honor. This means our military should receive some nice boosts as our society starts to focus on them a lot more. It has also allowed us to better detect any nearby Barbarians, which would help us stop them more easily before they would be able reach our cities. The people have also taken to calling me Napoleon the Great, which is flattering. I am confident I can live up to the title.

Paris has reported that Arabian Warriors have been spotted just outside our borders. I hope they do not cause any trouble...

Turn 17 - 3575 B.C. (Ancient Era)

We had accumulated enough wealth to start expanding the borders of Paris, so that is exactly what I did. I purchased a spot of land just outside our eastern border and declared it as part of Paris. The land, situated on a hill in the tundra, was also noteworthy because there were large amounts of silver located there.

I sent my Scout unit northeast, where they might have just made their biggest discovery yet.

They came across a geyser, something no other civilization had ever seen before. Apparently, it is known as "Old Faithful." The fact that we had came across such a natural wonder like Old Faithful before anyone else caused the citizens' happiness to increase quite a bit. Hopefully if France expands enough, we can claim Old Faithful as our own.

In addition to discovering Old Faithful, the Scouts found more ancient ruins not too far from there. I am excited to see what these ruins have in store.

Turn 18 - 3550 B.C. (Ancient Era)

The French population has grown to 21,000 people, making us the most populated civilization so far if my scientists are to be believed.

My Scout unit searched the ancient ruins they had previously discovered, and what they had found was absolutely amazing.

The ruins themselves may have been remnants of past civilizations, but what was in those ruins was far more advanced than anything I have seen. The Scouts found advanced weapons in the ruins, specifically, bows and arrows. These are the things we are researching currently through archery, so these discoveries should be a huge breakthrough in our research.

The Scouts decided to equip the weapons for themselves, making them no longer Scouts, but Archers. They can attack from long range, which is important because the Barbarians are unable to do so. All they can do is watch as we attack from the skies.

Turn 19 - 3525 B.C. (Ancient Era)

With their new, upgraded weapons, I had our Archers head northwest, where there was a Barbarian camp in the area.

I had previously expressed concern about Arabian Warriors nearing the Paris border, but it appears they were just looking to explore the world just like us, and are no longer near our land.

Turn 20 - 3500 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Our Archers were nearing the Barbarian camp. They got into the perfect position, ready to launch their surprise attack.

Turn 21 - 3475 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Our Archers officially launched their first attack on the Barbarians. We dif a fair amount of damage to them, around the same as our Warriors had done in their battles. The only difference is that our Archers aren't taking any damage from them.

I am also getting reports that our Worker unit production and our Archery research are set to be completed at the same time, which is quite convenient for me.

(Barbarian unit took 27 damage)

Turn 22 - 3450 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Another Barbarian unit has been spotted just outside of Paris's northern border! Our city bombarded the unit, but it is still standing and looking to cause trouble in Paris. Hopefully we can finish them before they do any real damage to the city.

Meanwhile, our Archers once again attacked the Barbarians they were dealing with, doing a slightly better job than in the last attack. It also looks like there is an Arabian unit on its way to help, but they could just be going back to their land, as it is fairly close to the Barbarian camp.

(Barbarian unit took 24 damage from Paris, Barbarian unit took 30 damage from Archers)

Turn 23 - 3425 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Apparently the world's first Pantheon has been founded, by a civilization we have yet to meet. A Pantheon is the first step on the way to a full, organized Religion, which could be good or bad depending on the circumstances. They have appeared to worship the Goddess of the Hunt.

The Barbarian unit that was spotted outside of Paris has now officially entered. Luckily, there is nothing for them to destroy or steal yet, but nevertheless, we should still take them out.

After the city attacked yet again, it seemed like the Barbarians were down to their last men. If all goes well, we should be able to end their miserable existence with our next attack, without them doing any damage to us.

Our Archers are also close to destroying the Barbarians that they have been fighting. They should be destroyed after the next attack as well.

(Barbarian unit took 24 damage from Paris, Barbarian unit took 28 damage from Archers)

Turn 24 - 3400 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Today was a wonderful day in France! Not only have our research project and production been finalized, but both our city and our Archers successfully destroyed the Barbarians that they were fighting with.

I decided to have Paris start work on erecting a Monument, which would help increase our Culture quite a bit. My economic advisor also suggested it, and I tend to trust her more than anyone else on my council.

My brand new Worker unit's first task was to construct a farm, which would be located in southern Paris. This farm will greatly increase Paris's food supply.

As for our research project, I decided to go with Mining due to the abundance of silver in Paris. We might as well put our resources to good use.

Turn 25 - 3375 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Our Worker has just arrived at the plot of Paris's first farm. He will get to work quite soon, I'm sure of it.

Meanwhile, our Archers raided the empty Barbarian camp after defeating their men, and recovered 37 Gold from said camp. In addition to that, they also discovered more ancient ruins. We seem to be getting quite lucky in our discoveries, hopefully these ruins contain some more technology like last time.

Turn 26 - 3350 B.C. (Ancient Era)

Our Worker has officially started working on constructing a farm! It is always nice to see our land being put to good use. After enough time, we should be able to upgrade and produce even more food for the Parisians.

Our Archers stepped foot in the ancient ruins they discovered, where they found ancient religious artifacts. Our civilization appears to have gained a lot more faith upon the discovery of these artifacts, and they are clamoring for their very own Pantheon. The Archers still had time to travel a bit more, so I sent them back southwest, as a Barbarian camp had formed in that direction.

Turn 27 - 3325 B.C. (Ancient Era)

It was agreed that a religious Pantheon was necessary, and as a result, we pored over the religious artifacts, looking for a viable Pantheon to found.

After careful deliberation, I decided that Dance of the Aurora would be the best Pantheon for Paris, as we are surrounded by tundra, which should help us quite a bit. This marks the second Pantheon to be founded in the world.

Turn 28 - 3300 B.C. (Ancient Era)

There was not much to do besides send my Archer further southeast. I had thought about purchasing another plot of land but decided to save up our Gold.

Turn 29 - 3275 B.C. (Ancient Era)

The Archers had reached the Barbarian camp, but another one had formed closer to Paris, and the one we were planning to fight was already being taken care of by an Arabian unit. We decided to go after the one close to Paris as a result.

Turn 30 - 3250 B.C. (Ancient Era)

The Archers headed west to take on the newly-formed camp. Other than that, it was pretty uneventful.

Turn 31 - 3225 B.C. (Ancient Era)

The Archers traveled further west until they were in the perfect position to launch their attack.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There should be a new poll after the next post, I would have had you guys choose the Pantheon, but there were way too many options and it would have been incredibly confusing.
Turn 32 - 3200 B.C. (Ancient Era)
The Archers launched their attack, which was slightly weaker than what they are usually capable of but still caused significant damage to the Barbarians..
(Barbarian unit took 24 damage)
Turn 33 - 3175 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Our Mining project is complete! I decided to have France research Pottery afterwards.
The Archers attacked again, looking a lot better than last time. We should be able to take the Barbarians out in our next 2 attacks.
(Barbarian unit took 35 damage)
Turn 34 - 3150 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Our Monument has been completed. This marks the completion of the first building in French history! This is sure to contribute to our culture. I had Paris start work on another Scout unit, as our military was still looking a little weak.
Speaking of our military, our Archers attacked the Barbarians yet again, dealing another large amount of damage. It appears my calculations will be correct, as this Barbarian unit will likely be wiped out after our next attack.
Turn 35 - 3125 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Another pantheon has been founded by a civilization we have yet to meet. Word is that they are worshiping the God of the Sea.
Our Archers wiped out the Barbarian unit! Soon, they will be able to raid the camp for some much-needed gold.
We are able to choose another Social Policy! I decided to choose the Warrior Code, as it speeds up production of military units substantially. Eventually, as a result of our policies, a Great General known as Subutai emerged! I had Subutai explore the land a little bit, searching for a decent place to build our first Citadel, which would greatly increase the defense of Paris.
Turn 36 - 3100 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Subutai was unable to find a decent place on the outskirts of Paris to build a Citadel, so he went back into our territory to look for a place in the city to build it.
After completing the Farm, our Worker headed northeast; specifically, to the spot where our new Mine would be built.
Our Archer successfully raided the empty Barbarian camp, recovering 37 Gold from it.
Turn 37 - 3075 B.C. (Ancient Era)
A ranking came out regarding the most well-fed people in the world. Out of 8 civilizations, France placed 2nd. Not bad, if I say so myself.
Subutai completed the construction of the Citadel right next to our buildings in the Capital, our Worker has started work on our silver mine, and our Archer headed west in search of a Barbarian camp in that area.
Turn 38 - 3050 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Our Archer headed further west, where we came upon the soldiers of another civilization! It was about time we found others like us. I met their ruler, known as Montezuma the Great of the Aztec civilization. After speaking with him, it turns out we are a lot alike. I can even perhaps see us being allies in the distant future.
Turn 39 - 3025 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Montezuma's men got very close to our borders, but I doubt they will do anything significant. They don't appear to be from around these parts and are probably just exploring a new area.
Our Archers headed southwest, inching ever closer to the Barbarian camp.
Turn 40 - 3000 B.C. (Ancient Era)
Our Archers headed further west, until they appeared to be within striking distance from the Barbarians. They do seem prepared for an attack, but since there is no way they will come out and attack us, it should be yet another victory for us.
With our Scout unit finally produced, I was unsure what Paris should produce next, so I let the citizens decide...
What should Paris produce next?
1. Settler - Would allow France to form another city, expanding the Civilization. Recommended by my economic advisor. Takes at most 20 turns to produce.
2. Scout - Can travel farther than any other military unit and takes less turns to produce, but is also the weakest military unit in the game. Recommended by my military and foreign advisors. Takes at most 6 turns to produce.
3. Archer - At the moment, the only military unit in the game that can attack from long range. Particularly effective against Barbarians, who can only produce melee units. Takes at most 10 turns to produce.
