My school already had homecoming, and somehow my brother got a date. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I didn't go to my school's homecoming, nor have I ever. Most of my friends don't go either, save for the couple that have girlfriends. I might go to senior prom, just for the fact that it's my senior prom, but I doubt it.

Yeah, my school doesn't even have a homecoming dance anymore.

Homecoming/spirit week for us too. Pajama Day today, sports day tomorrow.

We have a homecoming dance on Friday (Thursday)? iirc and I don't know if it's formal or anything so I don't know if I'll go. Is it a big deal? The only reason i went to any dances in grade 8 was because a lady friend usually said, "you should go prediction."

Also I have to wear "80s attire" today because my school sucks at coming up with homecoming themes (Last year's was cereal though)...I'm wearing a polo shirt and khaki shorts.

My school's dress-up days for Homecoming(2 weeks ago) were:

Monday- Manic Monday(dress-up like an idiot, essentially. Bright colors and short shorts with leggings were common, even among boys. )
Tuesday- Camo Day('cuz we're all rednecks who live in the sticks. )
Wednesday- Sports Jersey Day AND/OR Fake a Sports Injury Day(I wore my D-Rose jersey and walked around on crutches. It was humorous.)
Thursday- TV Character Day(I dressed up like Michael Jordan, not sure if that really counts but they said it did. )
Friday- Blue and White Day(Cuz that's our school's colours u kno.)

Do you guys have a spirit stick at your school?

I think so. Why?

Curious to see if that is common or not... Do you guys decorate halls and stuff too?

No. We don't have enough money or time for that.

Da hell is a spirit stick? I've heard of spirit rocks (that's in another county than mine), but spirit sticks? That's out of my realm of knowledge.

At my school, the 4 classes are pitted against each other in a week long battle, with the goal of claiming the spirit stick.

Points are counted for percentage of the class who dressed up for the dress-up days, hallway decorations(we pick a theme and decorate our halls and give them motivational football sayings. Ours this year was cartoons from our childhood.) There is also a victory key hidden, which is worth 20 points to the class who finds it first. Clues are given away every morning. There is a trivia game at lunch, where 2 students from each class are chosen to answer 5 questions about the school and its history. Each correct question is 1 point. Thursday night is "Skit Night", and each class has to do a lip sync and come up with a skit(related to football, again). Our lip sync this year was "The Fox". The skit, lip sync, and halls are judged by 5 judges, on a score out of 100. Their averages for each are combined to come up with a sub-total. Then you add in points from dress-up days, trivia, and victory key, and whichever class has the most points wins the spirit stick, which at my school is an old broomstick handle, painted blue with white stripes, says "INDIANS" on it, and has pom poms and a cowbell on the end.

Does that make it slightly clearer? My class got last this year. All because we got docked a bunch of points by 4/5 judges for having the word "losers" on one sign. :/

Ah, that makes a bit more sense.

My old HS had competitions similar to that, but there wasn't really a reward, just bragging rights in the school.
