Erisa, how did you end up having pitchers with such good stamina? Every single one of my pitchers in my Pelicans log had a C rating.

I think they're edited, or success mode players, heh.

I know Glass Joe is from Punch-Out. No idea on the others.

I did arrange mode. I specifically edited players to how I wanted.

All right. That leaves the following names - any guesses?

Zuni is right about Glass Joe. He's the 1st guy you face in Mike Tyson's Punchout for Nintendo.

The other names are from old sitcoms

Gabe Kotter The main character from 70s TV series "welcome back, Kotter" (Which happened to have one of the best theme songs ever)

Jack Tripper The main character from 80s TV series "three's Company"

Oscar Madison The main character from 70s TV series "the odd couple"

Duane Schneider The main character from the 80s TV series "one day at a time"

[LETTER FROM PRIOR MANAGER CONTINUED]

With position players, we looked for the same things, and, frankly, were surprised with the number of players that really seems ready to make the jump to the majors. Here is a list of the fielders, in the order I expected them to bat.

Probable starting lineup

Willie Mays-Hayes, 22, CF, S/L (EDBDCE, TR – two; Spray header, great infield hitter, durability four, stealing four, baserunning four, spider catch, headfirst slide, cannon arm, star, good morale): if Willy's hitting keeps him in the lineup and his career is not cut short by injury, he might lead the league in steels for many years to come; the players seem rejuvenated by his good-natured, boyish joy in playing this game

Robert Plant, 23, 2b, S/R (EECDCE, TR – two; spray hitter, great infield hitter, Durability four, stealing four, baserunning four, hitman, headfirst slide, slap hitter, aggressive stealer, aggressive runner): plays with the grit and Chip on his shoulder like a younger brother trying to prove himself when he plays with the big kids. Would love to have eight more just like him, although maybe a bit stronger at the plate. Can play SS in a pinch

Art Vandelay, 24, LF, S/R (ED117D9EEE, TR – two; clutch five, power hitter, spray header, pusher, refined, baserunning four, Good infield hitter, tough runner, break up DP): Potential to develop into a 20 – 20 player. Also plays a decent right field and can fill in in center in a pinch.

Buck Rogers, 22, 1b, L/L (FB145EEFD, TR – three; clutch – five, powerhitter, push hitter, durability four, tough runner, break up DP): nice power; could develop into an offensive force and defensively, does not make errors; very quiet, but the other players seem to look up to him

Jeff Lebowski, 23, 3b, R/R (EC130 EC 11 FE, TR – three; Clutch – four, power hitter, Push hitter, refined, barehanded catch, star, good morale): loves to joke around and keeps everybody loose; will be strong at the plate and in the field; can also play first base

David Banner, 22, RF, S/L (FC135 D9 C10 EE, TR – three; Clutch – five, power hitter, refined, throw – four, Canon arm, star): he will be great; unfortunately, he knows it. Not sure if we will be able to hold onto him long-term

Crash Davis, 23, C, R/R (FDFCEE, TR – three; spray hitter, throw – four, great catcher, trash talk, good morale): should become one of the better all-around catchers in the league; his toughness and good humor make him the heart of the team; also plays a good first base and can be used at third in a pinch

Way Cool, Jr, 23, SS, S/R (FECCCE, TR – two; spray hitter, great infield hitter, Steal – four, baserunning – four, barehanded catch, slap hitter, patient hitter): Will probably never win a silver slugger award, but could develop into a top defensive shortstop; works hard to get on base and make the most of his opportunities; can also play second and a decent third

Probable Bench/DH/Minor league players:

Geordi LaForge, 24, OF, L/L (GC125 CDEE, TR – three; clutch – five, power hitter, good infield hitter, push hitter, durability four, stealing four, base running four, Tuff runner, breakup DP, Star, good morale): potential to be absolutely a monster at the plate and on the base paths; easy-going, quiet nature makes him a team favorite; plays all outfield positions well

Mackey Sasser, 24, C, r/r (FEED9DC, TR – two; lefty – four, throw – four, good block, slap hitter): can also play first base

Encyclopedia Brown, 25, SS/2B, S/R (EEDD9D9 E, TR – two; Great infield hit, refine, durability four, gold glove, bare hand, have it, break up DP, slap hitter, aggressive runner): Can also play third base and first

Remington Steele, 23, 3B/1B, R/R (EDED9ED, TR – three; lefty – four, spray hitter, pinch-hitter, barehanded catch, break up double play)

Edgardo Alfonso, 24, SS/3-D/2-D (GFDCDD TR – two; spray hitter, good infield hitter, pivotman) Can also play first base in a pinch

Freeman McNeil, 23, CF/LF/RF, R/R (EED9 D9 CE, TR – two; Pinch-hitter, tough runner, break up DP, canon arm)

Danny Zucko, 24, CF/LF, L/L (FECDEE; clutch – four, spray header, great infield hitter, refine, durability four, stealing four, baserunning four, spider catch, headfirst slide, slap hitter, good morale) can also play right field

I hope you like the players I drafted for you. Good luck!

Sincerely,

Mr. P

I think there were a ton of E Brown books written and I read them all!

Crash Davis is one of the lead characters from the baseball film "Bull Durham." Kevin Costner was an over the hill catcher that they kept In the Minors to Help Tutor a Stupid, but Talented Pitcher. My favorite scene, Costner get so mad at the pitcher for shaking off his signs that he tells the batter what it is going to be thrown.

All the other identifications so far were 100% accurate

The only ones I'm surprised haven't been guessed are Art Vandelay and David Banner.

Vandelay hint: Seinfeld
Banner Hint: DC comics TV show
