Agreed - except I don't think I'll get past "normal." Even with my stacked country lineup, it was hard for me to hit normal speed pitching until my players got to level B contact

Yeah, I liked how they turned out. Got the idea from my wife's ipad case (lime green and royal blue).

[ERISA Dude enters his office for the first time]

Assistant: good morning, Mr. Dude. The prior manager asked me to give this to you.

ERISA Dude: Thank you.

[ERISA Dude sits in his comfy chair and opens the letter]

Dear new manager:

If you're reading this, it means it is too late for me, but there may still be time for your escape! Just kidding! I hope you like the team I picked out for you. In general, we looked at other teams' AA players to see who we thought were "can't miss prospects." Obviously, we were looking at potential and who he thought could develop relatively quickly, but the early going might be tough. Anyway, I thought a quick list of the players might help you assess your rotation and lineup. I will start by listing the pitchers:

Starters/Swingman (not in order of expected rotation)

    Roy Hobbs, 24, Right-handed three-quarter (94 E119 B130 HSL – two, SCB – one, SP – one, HSK – two; recovery four, Dr. K, good reflex, battler)

Sid Fernandez, 23, Left-handed three-quarter (88 E112 B145 HSHU – two, SP – two, DCB – one, HSL – two; v Lft – four, recovery four, good low pitch, good delivery, Gyro ball)

    David Cohen, 23, Left-handed three-quarter (98 G99 B139 2SF – one, HSL – two, SCB – one, CCH – one; fastball – four, spin – four, recovery – four, ground ball, safe pitch, Dr. K, Battler, star)

John McClane, 23, left-handed submarine pitcher (90 E118 B124 HSL – two, SP – two, SK – two; v lefty – four, fastball – four, ground ball, pick off, battler, recovery four)

Gabe Kotter, 22, right-handed three-quarter (92 G99 B137 2SF – two, HSL – two, CCH – three, VSL – two; poise four, spin four, recovery four, gd deliver, Dr. K, battler, Gyro ball)

Morris Buttermaker, 23, right-handed three-quarter (88 FB143 HSL – two, FOSH – two, slurve-three; SIF – three; Spin – four, recovery four, good delivery, good reflex, shuuto)

Jack Tripper, 24, right-handed submarine (92 F108 C103 SLV – two, CB-two, SP – two, SC – two; spin four, recovery four, good low pitch, Ground ball pitcher, good delivery, consistency – four)

Oscar Madison, 24, right-handed overhand (92 F108 B118 2SF – one, SCB – one, FOSH – three, SK – two; fastball life – four, spin – four, recovery four, good pick off, good delivery, consistency four)

Probable Closer: Enigo Montoya, 25, right-handed three quarters (94 C145 D75 HSL – four, SCB – two, SC – three; recovery four, star finisher, good reflex, intimidator, consistency – four, star)

Probable Set up man: Mickey Shuler, 23, left-handed three-quarter (89 D124 C80 2SF – two, HSL – three, PA – one; recovery four, star finisher, good reflex, good pick off, durability four, consistency four)

I assume you'll know where I got the names "Roy Hobbs," "David Cohen,"* and "Sid Fernandez," but how about the others?

John McClane, Henry Jones, and Buzz Nesbit are pulled/tweaked from movie character names. Any ideas? McClane might be misspelled.

* Cohen was spelled wrong on purpose.

Mickey Shuler sounds very familiar, but I'm not sure why.

I think he was a Penn State TE, if I'm not mistaken.

Buzz Nesbitt is when Buzz Lightyear was playing tea party with Mrs. Nesbitt in Toy Story.

You guys are good! "Yes" to all those! I don't know what college he went to, but Mickey Shuler was a tight end for the New York Jets, and he was one of my favorite players at the time. Not flashy, but I don't think he ever dropped the ball.

"Henry Jones" is a little tricky. Any guesses?

Henry Jones=Indiana Jones

Or his dad.

Also Enigo Montoya is a character from the Princess Bride.

Man, I thought I'd stump the group by not using the "Indiana" moniker. And "yes" re Montoya.

The last movie character in this group is "Morris Buttermaker." Any guesses?

Are these still movie names? If not, Jack Tripper would be two nicknames of a home run.
