Uh, post posts in topics over a week dead are useless

It doesn't matter if you're new. When I was new, I read the rules and didn't bump 17 old topics.

Alright guys, I feel like I need to say something about this situation.

First off, kj, I know you have a habit of not reading the post dates before you post on a topic. People here have been ragging you about bumping multitudes of old topics, which is understandable, but wouldn't you think once you got to, say, page 2 or 3 of the section, and it hasn't been posted on in a while, that the topic is pretty much dead? That said, I remember there being a bit of a discussion about whether or not bumping a dead topic to bring in new, useful information was acceptable. I forget how that conversation worked out, but for now, just be careful about where you post a reply to a topic.

Next, for everybody else: STOP SAYING THE SAME DARN THINGS WHEN HE POSTS IN A DEAD TOPIC. Seriously, I know the first few times should've been enough to have kj get the hint, but keeping it going after practically EVERYTHING he posts makes it really annoying and unnecessary. We should all be welcoming to new members, even with quirks such as propensity to post in dead topics (which is a bit annoying, if you ask me). A few gentle reminders should've been enough, but now it's just getting ridiculous and needs to stop.

TL;DR: kj, please look before you post (even though you don't do that), and everybody else: quit telling him the same things everytime he posts.

Uhh, what are we supposed to do then? That's really counter-intuitive logic. That's basically us accepting the fact that he's breaking a rule (however unimportant said rule is) because he's done it so many times that we've just gotten tired of reprimanding him.

We should be welcoming to new members, but we also should be able to point out when they're doing something wrong. And when they're doing something wrong this much, we should be able to try to help him out a bit.

Yeah, I'm with mac here. If we tell him to stop, and he keeps doing it, we have to continue to tell him to stop. If we don't, then it wont end. We literally have only three or four rules here. How hard is it to follow them?

And Dish, you're the community manager. You're the most important guy around here! It's your job to try and take care of this stuff. And all you've done about this is yell at us for enforcing rules! Not once did you ever tell KJ to stop bumping old topics.

I'm all for welcoming new members, but they need to earn it. Going around, breaking the rules 20 times, despite being reprimanded after each one, doesn't really qualify as earning it.

Alright, I'll admit I made a few mistakes regarding this issue, and I apologize for sitting on my hands during this. I wasn't thinking too straight (I'd only been up for an hour or so) when I made that post. I'll try to do better in corralling in rule-breakers in the future.

I agree with what every one of you have said on this topic. From new members earning respect, to keeping on telling him to stop, I agree with these points and I'm sorry for dragging this topic out farther than it needed to be. If we need to continue this discussion, I'm available over PM's.
