The last time I simulated a Zach Duke start, it was in the World Series against the Mets: 8.2 IP, 2 H, 22 K, 0 R.* Twenty-two! A performance so inspiring, Taylor Swift immediately wrote a song about it, traveled back in time and gave the song to herself so she could release it without copyright infringements upon Zach Duke. Zach Duke,** the Eddie Brock of baseball, will exact revenge when his alter-ego, Mr. Elijah Dukes, gets her pregnant and addicted to fast food.

* I almost took a picture of his stat line to post here, but quickly realized that would be about the nerdiest thing I have ever done. Plus, I am pretty sure I have seen Duke strikeout more than 22 batters.
** Naturally, if you trade for Zach Duke, I would have to be his agent seeing he and Elijah Dukes (aka Venom) are the same.

Alright, I'm back home. My parents were shopping for cars, heh.

June 15th, 2008.

Nationals threaten, but Seattle keeps them in check

Mariners: 5
Nationals: 4

Win: Loewen (2-3)
Save: Putz (15)
Loss: O'Connor
HR: Fields (3)
Zimmerman (7)

Adam Loewen: (6 IP, 2 R, 7 H, 5 K'S)
Josh Fields: (2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI)

Adam Loewen made his Mariners debut today, going six strong innings only allow 7 hits, walking none, and recording five strikeouts against a tough Washington lineup, the game started quickly, with Ronny Belliard singling, then scoring on a Ryan Zimmerman homerun. The Nationals were kept in check after that, scoring just two more runs as a Josh Fields homer was the deciding factor in this game, with the Mariners taking the series.

Heh, I'm sure that you could have him, sort of feels like when I had a Sandberg and a Lundberg on the same team.

Zach Duke is currently injured, my friends. I could go for Ronny Paulino, but I don't know if I should do this in two trades or wait for Zach Duke.

I might not even get Paulino.

If you are going to do it, do it right and wait for Duke.

Yeah, probably going to wait for Duke, this is what I have so far.

We have in our rotation, The King, Adam Loewen, Miguel Batista, Jarrod Washburn and Homer Bailey.

I'm trading Miguel Batista, Johjima, and Cha-Seung Baek to Pittsburgh for Zach Duke, Ronny Paulino and TWELVE million bucks. I tested that out by going into a new season with the mariners.

That sound good?

edit: twelve million dorrah, I mistakenly put15 cause I'm an idiot.

Ooh...that sounds like a pretty good trade.

Yeah, I'll probably do it when Zach Duke returns.

On December 9, 1992, reigning NL Cy Young Award winning pitcher, Greg Maddux, signed as a Free Agent with the Atlanta Braves. The first person he met upon entering the clubhouse at spring training was his new teammate and previous NL Cy Young Award winner, Tom Glavine. It was love at first sight and, well, nine months later *boom* Zach Duke.

I don't care what Wikipedia says. THIS is how Zach Duke came to be.

There was a hot tub, along with Icy Hot, sunflower seeds, a rosin bag, two glove waxes, and a Pitching Heart glove. This amalgamation, combined with Maddux & Glavine, all came together in some Hot Tub Time Machine way to create the perfect pitcher. It's pretty much science.

At some point, on somebody's console, Duke and Dukes will simultaneously win Player of the Week honors. I am pretty sure this is what the Mayans were talking about.

...The Wikipedia entry on Zach Duke is unprotected. Do you have any idea how tempting this is right now?
