March, Week 1, First and Only Preseason Game

I decided to get some rest before my game in the morning which was at 11:30. Coach told us to be there at 9:30.

I got to the park and started throwing with Tristan.

After warmups, I saw the lineup that coach posted. I wasn't in there, but I didn't expect to be in the lineup either.

We were playing a team called the Brookside Chiefs. They weren't a great team, which explained why we played them in the preseason. We were already up 9-1 going into the fourth, and coach had me come in to bat.

The Chiefs' pitcher, reliever Sam Dyson threw about 78 and had a plus curveball.

He threw me a curve that I looked silly on missing for strike one. He then threw a couple fastballs out of the zone to make it 2-1.

The 2-1 delivery came and I was expecting a fastball. I was obviously wrong as I was way ahead. I managed to change my swing location as he hung the curve and pulled it down the third baseline. The third baseman came up with it and threw me out at first. Technique Points +1

I got up again in the sixth and walked on 5 pitches against a small pitcher who looked like a freshman.

I went home after the game a bit bummed about the game but let it go.

March, Week 2

I went to the field, even though we had a day off from practicing, since our first normal game was tomorrow.

When I got there, I saw that a few of the other players were there. Senior catcher Chad Easton, senior pitcher, also captain of the team, Marco Black, sophomore right fielder, my competition, Joey Friday, and Tristan, who plays second base and center field.

We had five guys, so we decided to have a 2-on-2 pickup game with an all-time hitter, Joey was elected to be the hitter. The teams were Marco and I, against Chad and Tristan. We decided to play two outs with a 5-run per inning rule.

Marco let me be the lead-off hitter for the team. We were batting first and Tristan was on the bump. Lol, I though, Tristan can't throw a strike from 46 feet.

Decision Time
A) Swing for the fences on the first pitch

March, Week 2

On the first pitch, Tristan spat on the ball, wound up and hit me in the back. It didn't hurt, but I was a little pissed off.

We ended up winning 11-8, playing 3 innings, I went 4-7 with 3 ground rule doubles, a normal double, and 4 RBI.

I went home from the field and decided to get some good sleep because tomorrow, Saturday, I had my first game.

When I arrived at the field, Marco and Tristan were the only ones there before me. The batting lineup was hanging up in the dugout, I was ecstatic to see myself in the lineup, in right field batting 9th. Marco and I played a little catch before the rest of the guys got there and started warming up.

We were playing the North Fort Myers Red Knights, the best team in the league. Their ace pitcher, senior, Justin Reddick was on the mound. Justin was shutting us down, while the Knights scored two in the second, retiring the first 7 batters, as our 8th hitter, freshman second baseman, Bryce Good, got a soft single to right field. I was up and to be honest, was pretty scared to face him.
