Why does Gallagher strike out so much? Are you just trying to hard with him?

Because I like to work the counts and I take a lot of borderline strike 3 calls while trying to draw walks, more than half the time he strikes out looking on what should be ball 4.

2008 SMLB Draft
In a surprising turn of events, the Stampede drafted two new pitchers in this years draft, Right hander William Sanders, and left handed submariner Andre Voyles. Owner Grant Bryant had this to say about drafting two pitchers. "We were looking for a fast moving outfielder in this years draft but we could not find one, so we felt like drafting two pitchers was the best second option, now we have plenty of depth in our bullpen." Grant Bryant was also asked about possibly trading one of these new pitchers to try and grab some much needed speed and he did not rule anything out. Wihout a minor league team, Grant Bryant said that Fernando Hernandez will still be with the team but will not play in any games and will not be on the 25 man roster until further notice.

William Sanders-

This is probably a little late, but I love the two pitchers you drafted. Andrea's control is still good same with stamina which is surprising for someone with such great breaking balls.

Team Doctors have announced that starting catcher E.J. Florence has broken his collarbone for the 2nd time this year and will be out for at least 1 month. E.J. Florence is hitting .316 on the year with 2 home runs and 18 RBI's, Frank Honey will take over as the starting catcher and 2nd baseman Bucky McBadbat will be called up from the minor leagues. This is a huge blow for the Stampede's playoff hopes as they lead the NL Central by just 2 games with just over a month and a half of the regular season to go.

yea I really like Voyles and Sanders. When I first drafted them I thought Sanders was going to be the better pitcher since his scouting report was "He is very talented, will help the team a lot" and Voyles was just a star on his hocket team or something like this but Voyles seems to easily be the better pitcher right now.

GAME 1: The workhorse Doug Copet was at it again, going the distance for the 9th time this year which is a league best, Doug Copet pitched an amazing 8 innings giving up just 2 earned runs, but ended up taking the tough luck loss as the Cobras left hander Jamie Moyer out performed Copet by pitching a complete game shutout as the Stampede fell in game 1, 2-0.

GAME 2: Ian Riley came into the game trying to recover from a rough outing on his last start which just so happened to be against the Cobras, well Ian Riley did just that as he went the distance also but this time Ian Riley pitched 9 innings to get his complete game shutout and ended up taking the 1-0 win with the catcher Frank Honey hitting in the winning run in the top of the 1st inning. Riley scattered just 5 hits while striking out 8.

GAME 3: K.K. Jennings looked great through 4 innings but in the 5th inning guys just started to see the ball big off of his hands. Jennings pitched just 5 innings while giving up 3 runs on 9 hits and striking out 8. The Stampede were able to get 3 runs in the first inning but weren't able to add on to their lead and would eventually end up losing 5-3 with Andre Sanders taking the loss, his 2nd on the year.

Starting pitcher Tito Makani has recovered from his elbow injury and will join the team for their next game against the Iowa City Shooters, Makani will return to his role in the starting rotation, sending Ian Riley back to his role as a swing man, Ian Riley went 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA during his 2 starts in the starting rotation including one complete game shutout. Fernando Hernandez will be sent back down, he had a 1.45 ERA in 4 games of relief pitching 6 2/3 innings while giving up 6 hits and striking out 8.

In a semi-surprising turn of events, Stampede manager Mike Edmonds has made a sudden change in the starting rotation, moving struggling ace pitcher K.K. Jennings(3-10) out of the starting rotation and swing man Ian Riley(8-5) will take his place. K.K. Jennings will make his next scheduled start then will be moved to the bullpen where he is expected to see limited action in September. Coach Edmonds said "At this time in the season, we feel like Ian Riley gives us the best chance to win meaningful games in September to help reach the post season." In his last 3 starts Jennings has a 9.70 ERA, pitching just 10 2/3 Innings, while giving up 27 hits and striking out 16. Coach Edmonds also stated that Jennings would have to fight for a spot on the team next year.
