He was also player of the game in that game, I may have forgotten to mention that.

I think in the third season I'll edit the format a little just to include who the player of the game was. I guess if it winds up being someone on their team I'd have to include their stats for the game because I don't do box scores for the other team.

Season 2, Game 3:

Boston Bruins (2-0) at New York Yankees

Bruins: 6
Yankees: 1

The Bruins keep on rolling in their second season, extending their winning streak to 3 games and hitting a .500 record in their franchise. Ortiz and Davis each had a couple of big home runs to open up a lead that the pitching would hold.

Player of the Game: David Ortiz

Thornton: 1-4
Blanco: 1-4, K
Cooper: 1-4, R, K
Ortiz: 2-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R
Gonzalez: 0-4
Lewis: 0-4, 2 K
Davis: 2-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, K
Curtis: 0-4
Benoit: 2-4, 2B, R

R.VanVorstenbosch: 6 innings pitched, 4 hits, 0 runs, 5 strikeouts, win
J.Feliz: 1 inning pitched, 2 hits, 2 strikeouts, hold
J.Hanrahan: 1 inning pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts
B.Garlobo: 1 inning pitched, 2 hits, 1 run, 1 strikeout

Win: Ryan VanVorstenbosch (2-0)
Loss: Phil Hughes
HR: Ortiz (2), Davis (2), Youkilis

Davis appears to be choosing the right time to hit a hot streak, after those last couple games, the only way he's not making the team next season is if he pretty much single handedly loses us both of the next couple game.

did not expect to see 3 HR in 2 games from Tucker...

Do you know what his power ratings are?

I guess you can only check overall ratings on The Show's website, so I'll look at his ratings in depth next time I'm on.

I've done so much on the marketplace that I have so many cards I don't even know which MLB players I want to use first. Only position that's particularly weak is SS, best I have there is an 82, so I'd probably just take a 3B that has it as a second position to fill that.

If anyone is interested in voting on which players to use, I can come up with some lists. I kind of wanted to use Jose Bautista after my finger slipped and I accidentally bought him for way more than I wanted to pay, but with Davis playing really well I may have to wait for his retirement.

Also, if anyone else ever happens to play Diamond Dynasty, I can try to set up offers to buy or sell certain cards. I try to sell my duplicates usually, like right now I have 3 John Axfords.

Davis has 48 power against either type of pitcher.

Season 2, Game 4:

Boston Bruins (3-0) at San Francisco Giants

Bruins: 2
Giants: 0

The Bruins won a hard fought pitcher's duel, the winning run was scored by Shawn Thornton, who lead off the first inning with a single and a stolen base. The Bruins pitching ran into some jams along the way but completed the team shutout, Jason Motte came out for the save. This win extends their win streak to 4 games and they will be looking to finish off a perfect season.

Player of the Game: Bryan Kelly

Thornton: 1-4, R, SB (really 2-4, the scorers in this game are complete morons)
Blanco: 1-4
Staton: 1-4, 2B, R, RBI
Ortiz: 2-4, K
Cooper: 1-4, RBI
Davis: 1-4, 2 K
Curtis: 1-3
Benoit: 0-4
Kelly: 0-2, K
Lewis: 1-1
Larson: 0-0
Shannon: 0-0
Staton: 0-1
Motte: 0-0

B.Kelly: 6 innings pitched, 4 hits, 0 runs, 9 strikeouts, win
J.Shannon: 2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts, hold
J.Motte: 1 inning pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts, save

Win: Bryan Kelly (1-1)
Loss: Barry Zito
Save: Jason Motte (2)

This is the first game that the Bruins have scored runs in a game where they did not hit a home run.

Season 2, Game 5:

Chicago Cubs at Boston Bruins (4-0)

Cubs: 1
Bruins: 6

The Bruins finished off their amazing perfect season against the Cubs tonight, using several pitchers to hold the Cubs to one run, and getting some late insurance runs to let their pitching breathe a little. Davis managed another home run in this game, and Gonzalez hit one as well.

Player of the Game: Eddy Gonzalez

Thornton: 2-3, R, BB, SB
Blanco: 1-3
Cooper: 1-3, 3B, R, 2 RBI
Ortiz: 0-3, RBI, K
Gonzalez: 2-4, HR, R, RBI, K
Lewis: 0-4, 2 K
Davis: 1-4, HR, R, RBI, K
Curtis: 2-3, 2B, RBI, K
Benoit: 1-3, 2B

R.Cortes: 4 innings pitched, 4 hits, 1 run, 2 strikeouts
B.Lugo: 2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 1 strikeout, win
J.Feliz: 1 inning pitched, 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts, hold
J.Hanrahan: 1.1 innings pitched, 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts, hold
J.Motte: 0.2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts

Win: Benito Lugo (1-0)
Loss: Matt Garza
HR: Gonzalez, Davis, Hairston

Their starter pitched only 4 innings despite allowing just 1 run, this was the subject of the manager's post-game interview.
"I really wasn't sure how many runs our offense was going to score, they were slumping a bit leading to this game and I couldn't settle for good pitching, I needed amazing pitching to be safe to hold our 2-1 lead. That pitcher was actually missing his spots enough that I thought it to be pure luck he only allowed 1 run to that point."

Davis with 4 HR this season compared to 0 in his first. Impressive.

I was actually going to do season MVPs for every season, but I forgot about it until you brought it up, so the next post should include who will be added to the roster for next season, and the season MVP.

I never had a perfect season at all in MLB '12 Diamond Dynasty with all the stacked teams I had, so it's odd that I got one in this so early without many superstars. I might even have to try moving up a difficulty level once my team improves more.

I may add another award or two if I think of any. This topic logging all of the stats actually helps me a lot too because a lot of specific things I'd want to know about my players aren't tracked in the specific ways I'd want them in game. I can even use this to try to come up with a Hall of Fame for my team once we get into retirements, and there'll definitely be some at the end of season 3.

I like Davis' improvement, but my vote goes to Jason Motte - 2.2 innings pitched without a single batter reaching base, and 2 saves.

Season 1 Awards:

MVP: Mike Lewis, 9-19, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R, 3 K
Rookie of the Year: Mike Lewis (obviously, the entire roster were rookies)
Pitcher of the Year: Randy Cortes, 8 innings pitched, 3 runs, 9 strikeouts
Reliever Award: Julio Feliz, 2.2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 2 strikeouts

Season 2 Awards:

MVP: Tucker Davis, 5-19, 4 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R, 5 K
Rookie of the Year: David Ortiz, 8-20, 2 2B, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 5 R, 2 K
Pitcher of the Year: Gio Gonzalez, 9 innings pitched, 0 earned runs, 13 strikeouts
Reliever Award: Jason Motte, 3 appearances, 2.2 innings pitched, 0 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, 2 strikeouts, 2 saves

Davis had quite a turnaround season, going from the player the manager just wanted off the team to the MVP in season 2, he didn't hit for a great average (he actually had as many strikeouts as hits!), but had many home runs, and played pretty good defensively. Rookie of the Year honorable mention goes to Shawn Thornton, who hit .500 with 10 hits, 5 runs and 3 stolen bases, but Ortiz's RBI and Home run numbers couldn't be ignored in the decision. Motte won as a reliever for some really clutch performances on the mound, even getting out of Hanrahan's jam last game without allowing a runner to score.

What do you think of the awards? Too many? Too few? The reliever award was kind of thrown in last-minute because I don't think relievers would see enough action in a 5 game season to win anything otherwise.

---

New Players for Season 3:

Ryan Zimmerman (will be playing his second position at shortstop to fill in for the poor hitting Richard Blanco)
Jacoby Ellsbury (will play CF, will add even more speed to the top of the order)
Jon Lester (another ace pitcher for us, will probably be activated midseason to maximize games with him)
Philippe Aumont (relief pitcher, nothing special, I'm just using him for the novelty)

Season 3, Game 1:

Boston Bruins (0-0) at Kansas City Royals

Bruins: 13
Royals: 1

Case Royal got the start in place of Gio Gonzalez, who needed more rest after his complete game his last start, Royal dominated the Royals in 8 innings allowing just 1 run. More notable however was Barry Cooper, who completed the unbelievable accomplishment of hitting for the cycle, the triple was last and it didn't look for a second like he could have stretched it into a triple but the throw went to the plate instead of third, where the runner was just safe. The Bruins dominated all game, finishing with 22 hits, everyone in their lineup contributed at least one hit.

Player of the Game: Barry Cooper

Thornton: 3-6, R, 2 RBI, K
Ellsbury: 2-6, SB
Zimmerman: 1-5, R, K
Ortiz: 1-5, RBI, K
Gonzalez: 1-5, R
Lewis: 3-4, HR, 4 R, 3 RBI, BB, K
Cooper: 4-5, 2B, 3B, HR, 4 R, 3 RBI, K
Davis: 3-5, 2B, 3B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, K
Curtis: 4-5, 2 RBI

E: Zimmerman

C.Royal: 8 innings pitched, 6 hits, 1 run, 3 strikeouts
P.Aumont: 1 inning pitched, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 strikeouts

Only one game update today because I was tired and getting annoyed I couldn't get any players through bidding for a while.

But I remembered I forgot to share my team stuff here, so...
