I have started a game review thread because I can.

FORMAT

(Name)
Storyline: Give a quick description of the story, characters, and what you thought of everything. But leave out spoilers. I'll repeat myself. NO MAJOR SPOILERS!
Gameplay: Talk about the different mechanics, elements, and what exactly you do. Maybe give the genre if it isn't already stated.
Overall Rating: Based on everything the game has to offer, give the game a score between 0.1 and 10.And then if you want, give 3-5 things you liked or disliked about the game.
Platinum Difficulty How difficult is it to get the platinum trophy, on a scale from really easy --> :D :) :| :? :( :x <-- really hard. (This is also optional)

While I expect to be the only person that does this, if anyone else is interested, use the above format.

Are you saying it's wrong to talk to a bag of Skittles? Because if so, I'm going to need to rethink a lot of things. :P

Infamous 2, developed by Sucker Punch and published by Sony Computer Entertainment

Storyline: You take control of conduit Cole MacGrath, who developed electric superpowers from a Ray Sphere blast in Empire City. After being attacked by "The Beast" (who was prophesied by Kessler in the first gane) in Empire City, you head to New Marais, the setting of the game. The city is based off of New Orleans and is split up into four districts: Ville Cochon, Ascension Parish, Flood Town, and Gas Works. Your goal is to meet with Wolfe, and train your powers there in preparation of taking on "The Beast" by using blast cores.

Along with Cole, there are four other major protagonists. There is Zeke, your best friend and right hand man. He is a much more likable character this time around, learning from his mistakes. While he can still be lazy at times, he helps out much more, such as joining the militia as a spy. Kuo, a former NSA agent who gains ice powers after her conduit gene is activated. She represents the good side of Cole, believing in gaining the citizens respect and trying to get things done in the smoothest way possible. Nix, a non-sense swamp dweller who controls fire after being at the edge of a Ray Sphere blast when she was just a kid. She represents the bad side of Cole, being much more reckless, and willing to kill or injure citizens and cops if needed. And then there's Laroche, the somewhat perverted leader of the Rebels. Against them is Joseph Bertrand III, the religious leader of New Marais, the three factions (Militia, Corrupted, and Vermaak 88), and then "The Beast", obviously.

At important parts of the game, comic book style pictures will appear in place of regular cut scenes, like Sucker Punch did in their previous series, Sly Cooper. It adds a cool effect that breaks up the regular cut scenes. The game also has a karma system, either good or bad, depending on your decisions. While they both have the same storyline, they each will give 5 different story missions, and 15 different side missions. Despite having good characters, the story itself is fairly lackluster. That being said, either karmic choice has a different ending, and they are both very depressing. With the final mission, the last comic book cut scene, and the credits song (Fade Away by The Black Heart Procession), it can cause you to tear up, depending on how attached you were to the game, and if you're just an emotional person or not. Also, while the evil ending is still pretty sad, it's much more touching on the good playthrough, and I suggest that you choose that side first.

Gameplay: Infamous 2 is played in the style of a third-person shooter, with heavy amounts of platforming and open world elements. There are nearly 40 story missions, and over 60 side missions. Most of the side missions work in the same way. In about half you just have to kill the enemies in the area. The rest range from "Overcharge" missions, where you must go between two places while trying to stay in the air or on wires for as long as possible. Tracking missions, where you must follow an enemy to their hideout and then kill them all. Searching missions, where you must find a package or person using a photo, among others.

Just like the first, you have a meter telling you how much electricity you have left to use, which can be increased by absorbing blast shards from around the city. Once you run out of meter, you must steal electricity from objects around you, such as cars, lights, or transformers. It is also suggested you do this when your screen turns grey, signaling low health. Also like the first game, you still have your basic types of attacks, such as bolts, grenades, blasts, rockets. They have three levels each, each level either having one or two neutral attacks, or two attacks, each corresponding to a karmic side.

Three new types of powers are also introduced: Ionic powers, fire and ice powers, and melee attacks using your amp. Ionic powers are gained once you absorb the third blast core, and are great for when you're overloaded with enemies. Fire and ice are unlocked at about the halfway point of the game. You get one or the other, depending on the choice you make during a mission. And then lastly is the amp. It is great for when you have one or two enemies to deal with, as to avoid using precious meter. It is also useful for when you face the corrupted.

As stated earlier, there are three (or four) different factions you face throughout the game. The first is the Militia, a group made to "protect" the city by Bertrand, but instead they just create havoc. They will periodically kidnap and execute random people that they see as possible deviants. They are the easiest group to take care of. Next, there is the Corrupted, a set of swamp monsters who serve no purpose other than to attack the civilians. The regular creatures are best taken care of with two hits with the amp, and then a finisher. There are also two tougher opponents (Ravagers and Devourers), who have health bars and take lots of hits to defeat. And then there are Vermaak 88, a South African military group, who become ice conduits are being experimented on. They are the most difficult to defeat, and the tougher opponents (Crushers and Titans) are just total pains to fight. And lastly, the police will be hostile towards Cole if you become evil, but they are hardly a threat.

Infamous 2 does have a few issues though. The camera is really wonky at times, such as when you are near a wall, and is really bad when you do melee attacks near wall. But the biggest problem would be frame rate. During scenes when you fight hoards of enemies at once and must resort to spamming bolts and rockets, the game frame rate will drop dramatically. This can range anywhere from only a second or two, to around 8 seconds or so.

Rating: 9.7, Amazing

+Awesome Powers
+Likable Characters
+Sad, yet Good Ending
-Frame Rate Issues
+Great Replay Value

Platinum Difficulty: :D There's nothing I'd consider hard about this trophy. Looking at the karma trophies, there are 10 that you are guaranteed (5 on each side), along with another 6 you will almost certainly get. Don’t Fence Me In is definitely the easiest other trophy, as all you have to do is climb over a fence. The hardest is maybe Head Hunter, since you need 3 precision head shocks in a row, and even that isn't that hard. Just One More is where you have to collect all 305 blast shards. It's more tedious than everything, because once you purchase Blast Shard Sense, it will be easy to spot out where all the shards are located.

The best way to achieve the plat is to play your first playthrough on normal (it's suggested you choose the good path), and try and do everything you can. That means every mission, every blast shard, every dead drop, and as many of the other trophies as possible. Opponents will be easier, thus making missions easier to complete. Getting most other trophies will be easier since you'll have all your powers unlocked, due to getting more experience from enemies, and you'll have access to every area of the city. Once you've done nearly everything you can, start a new save profile, but pick the opposite karmic route. Most important thing is that as soon as you can, turn the difficulty to hard! As you play through, only do the side missions relating to your karma, and don't go out of your way to collect everything around the city, just the shards and dead drops that are close by. If you do everything right, you should receive the platinum after you see the credits for the second time.

Soooooooooooooo, too long, or no?

I didn't think it was too long.

Good job, and I agree. I thought both inFamous games were absolutely awesome.

Sucker Punch has been making great games since the sly cooper series... I'm not surprised they keep doing well. And by the by I'd do a sly cooper thieves in time but I have not completed in 100% yet.
