That system makes a hell of a lot more sense than most.

At our school you get a couple weeks off for vacation, then you come back for a week and a half before exams. It really would make a lot more sense to just finish before the vacation and then start the next semester upon returning.

I never understood why schools put exams after break. Why have students spend their whole break worrying about exams (or alternatively, not worrying then coming back completely rusty) when you can get them out of the way early? My school has exams before winter break then one more week after break before the semester ends.
