Before today's game against the Rays, they announced who the monthly MVPs were. I wasn't shocked at all about who they selected.

Editor's note: I'm not the best storywriter in the world, but I needed a bit of a monthly update on Robert's personal life, so here goes nothing...

On the flight to Los Angeles from Vancouver to face the Angels, Robert decided to check in with his parents and girlfriend. He opened up Skype, and after telling his parents how Skype works, they finally got a video connection.

"Hey, Robert," his mom said first, "how's the team doing?"

"Not bad," he replied, "we're actually leading our division by 5 games or so, and 2 games behind the MLB leader."

"Wow, that's great," his dad replied, "you're off to a great start as a GM!"

"Thanks," Robert said, "you've watched any of our games yet?"

"Not really," his mom said, "we don't get Vancouver games all the way from Michigan, and we don't feel like getting MLB.TV, but we'll certainly try to work up some funds to try to fly out for a home game sometime."

"Cool! Can't wait," Robert said excitedly, "and you know what, I'll ask the owner to pay for MLB.TV for you so you can watch some of our games sometime."

"Thanks, son," his dad said, "that's very nice of you."

After that, he told them that he'd talk to them next month, and promised free tickets to their May 12-14 and May 20-22 matchups against Detroit, the latter being home games.

He then hung up and proceeded to Skype his girlfirend, Kayla.

"Hey, Kay," Robert said.

"Hey, Robbie," she replied. To Robert, other people calling him Robbie was a pet peeve of his, but the way Kayla said it sounded...charming to him, but he couldn't explain why.

"So, what you've been up to lately?" Robert asked.

"Oh not much, just can't wait to get to Senior year, that's all," Kayla replied.

Senior year. He knew when he took this job, he'd have to sacrifice being around his friends to do this job, which meant potentially not making it to the commencement ceremonies at school.

"Yeah, can't wait for that either," Robert finally replied.

"So, what's going on with the team, Robbie?" Kayla asked.

Robert replied with the same info he told his parents.

"Nice going, Robbie," Kayla replied, "Say, do you know where I am right now?"

Robert was a bit puzzled by the question. It looked like she was in a tropical environment of sorts, judging by the hotel room that was in the background of the Skype call. Family vacation, perhaps? He knew her family did this a few times a year, but it looked...different for some reason. He then caught a picture on the wall of the hotel room. It looked...familiar. White letters sitting on top...of...a...mountain...

"No. Damn. Way." Robert said in astonishment. He knew that she was in...

"Los Angeles! Can you believe it?" Kayla said excitedly. "I'm here to be on a game show, but it doesn't tape for a couple days, so I don't have a lot to do until then."

Robert then thought of something.

"Say, Kay," Robert replied, "my team is actually going to be in Los Angeles this weekend. Think you could come out to watch? I'll get you a ticket in the GM's booth."

"That would be wonderful!" Kayla replied. "But I have one thing to add."

"Yeah?" Robert replied, "What would that be?"

"If you win all 3 games of this series," she replied, "I'll get you a ticket to go to the taping of the show on Sunday night."

Robert was happy and astonished at the same time. His girlfriend would get him tickets to be at the taping? This is incredible, he thought.

"Sure thing, Kay," he replied, slipping over his words a couple times out of pure shock, "I'll see ya then. I'll win those games for ya!"

"Alrighty, bye!" Kayla replied.

Robert knew that he had to win all three games against the Angels to try to get back first place in MLB from the Chargers, but now there was the game show tickets involved. That would be another thing off the bucket list.

The plane then landed, and Robert immediately got to his hotel room to plan strategy with Becky Fox for the upcoming series.
