Maybe you get refined from a girl? And has anyone used the mirror yet? that might increase something.

That's a good idea.....Evelyn is an actress, wants you to look stylish on dates, and likes the expensive food places. Could have some promise.

What's the definition for refined? I would look myself but the PS2's broke.

I love how the instructions are so vague and don't really explain anything.

Just a few games ago I had an experience increase in Refined. I have no idea how I got it though. Refined is actually defined as "gets bloop hits more often" so I suppose if you can get bloop hits somehow then it would increase.

I get those all the time and I never get that increased. I thought it was defined as "smart hitter with a good swing".

That would be Tough Out, getting hits with 2 strikes...

True, that's what the game says.

Well in the 2007 Success mode forums there's a sticky that lists what most of the abilities actually do. And I'm guessing that it's not bloop hits, but hits that come after making poor contact with a pitch.

I meant being selective with the pitches you swing at. Not swinging at any balls.

That's Gd Eye and/or Patient Htr. Not Refined. You can check in the thread for more info.

Can you get Gd Eye/Patient Htr in My Life? Or only in Success? If you can get them in My Life, I'll have to stop swinging at pitches just outside of the zone so that I can get those abilities :D

Good idea with the Chess thing. Sounds like it might be the clue. I'm up to a high C with it so Once I get to A, I'll let you know.

I'm now a B in Chess and about 1/2 way to an A.....hopefully I'll either get Refined for maxing Chess or satisfy the "smart" condition and be able to gain experience towards it.

Cool stuff. Keep us posted on that. I'm getting the feeling if that doesn't work, maybe maxing out all of the skills could help you earn it. Just a guess.

You can't learn Good Eye or Patient Hitter in My Life unfortunately so swing away.

Good eye might have to do with walks.

the ability i just cant seem to get for my pitcher is the vs runner. it starts out very close to getting it. but it never moves, if it goes down, and the next game i do good with a runner on base, it just gets the amount it lost and never any more.
is it only able to get in success mode, or do you have to make them always hit into double plays, or make all of the runners stay on the bag they are at each inning?
