How are you people making such good first characters? I took over a year to get to where I am and I still don't have players that good.

I don't think it's too hard to make really good characters in one of your first tries if you get lucky enough and s/l a lot, also this board has probably helped people. Another thing, people don't post their bad/horrible characters. It didn't take me too long to make good characters just my 3rd person on 07 was really good and my first or second player on 08 was really good. Some people just pick up on it easier.

A lot of it has to do with the amount of players I created in 07 and then taking suggestions on how to really improve things in 08. And having near lunacy levels of patience.

This version certainly seems "easier" overall, but so far it seems very difficult to get control to 255 (along with stam, all abilities, max speed, etc). It also seems difficult to impossible to create an "all A" character.[/quote]

I have finally done it. All A's with 230 pwr and every ability you could ever want.
I'll admit though the pitching levels are low A's.

This year I would say is easier because of the practice cards. Also you don't neccesarily have to spend a week practicing to get paid.

These are based off of my observations playing the game.

1. Get energy up as quickly as possible, and use carryover chocolates as much as you can. Energy drinks + a source of money early equals alot more turns then you should normally have.

2. The PI job is overpowered for its surprise bags. It basically equals about $950 for 1 turn, or $200 + an ability from one of the books, $200 + and equipment improvment item. Use this event to get the gambling ring as early as possible.

3. Win every game, or do super well and you'll never have to worry about how much you practice.

4. The steakhouse can raise your stamina (pitcher) or power (hitter). This is very useful when your stam/power is at high level and costs alot more power. The super steak that you can find comes to mind here.

5. Dr Goodjob is alot easier to get.

6. Need to figure out what events give what abilities before we determine what strategy is best for saving/loading ^_^

Anyways, i have not been able to play this version as much as i played the 07 version, so i'm open to input.

good advice

It's gotten to the point where i've saved and loaded so much, I often get corrupt success mode data files

I do stand by the general idea of what I originally posted: Max out the number of extra turns you get and use those turns as effectivly as you can.

*This means, saving/loading till you get a worthwhile ability out of any of the Frank events, Stitch events, etc.

*Choose the last option as a pitcher when you see the 3rd datable girl at the park to get a boost in STAM. (this removes her from the story, but direct stam boost = +++++)

*Try and have a carry over chocolate for every week.

*Use the steak house for power/stam.

*Save/load for success on events like the thief event to get paid quickly and handsomely.

I would try something like that if there was a 100% chance of intimidator.

I swear there is.

Win the games vs. Jonathon.

Get the RE where you don't introduce her to Marvin and she asks you on a date. (might have to reload for this result)

Date her (obviously)

Give a present to her for Christmas.

If you don't get Intimidator after that, then something is wrong.

Does it count if you give the present the week before christmas?

yes. whenever you get the Christmas RE. I noticed Lucy is in week 3 Dec. Patty is in week 4. So I think it is possible to date them both.

Interesting. But I did all of those and didn't get intimidator.
