Fujita throws a gem!

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – The White Knight uniforms have proved to be of great luck for the Knights, as they have won yet another weekend game, beating the Hawks by a score of 3-1. This one, though, wasn’t all too exciting.

Well, Fujita did almost throw a shutout, but ended up giving up a run on a sac fly in the bottom of the 9th, with 1 out. “I came pretty close, but hey, you know how it goes.” He said after the game. Fujita is currently having a not-so-great sophomore season. Regarding this, he said “Don’t a lot of people have mediocre second years? I mean, I’m not that special. This season’s been a learning experience for me, and during the offseason, I’m going to fine tune my mechanics and become the pitcher that I was last year!”

Anyways, Kanazawa was the star of the offensive side of the game, hitting the go-ahead homerun in just the first inning. It wasn’t hit very far, but it bounced off the top of the wall, and got the job done. He gave the Knights the only lead that they would need for the night.

Ha, I wish. No, one of the pitchers I made is an American and the other is Venezuelan. I don't know if the Venezuelan pitcher will make it, though.

I also made a 3B who will likely join the team as a bench bat.

I dunno about that third baseman being a backup, he's really good.

We'll have to just wait and see ;)

And That’s Eighty

Image – Shen and Kurihara

Blue Stadium, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto – Well, the Knights just blew out the Fighters by a score of 14-1. Yikes. Shen threw a complete game in the process, saying “Yeah, I did pretty excellently” after the game.

The score almost would’ve been 14-2, but Reiza made an excellent throw, showing off his feared arm, throwing out Yang at home to end the inning!

Also, Kurihara hit his 50th homerun of the year in the bottom of the 6th, with a blast over the center field wall!

Also, Darvish did downright horrid, letting up 9 runs in only 5 innings. By far, his worst outing of the season.

I just looked at my guy and it's possible that he could start over Fukuchi. I guess I thought he would be a bench bat because I'm used to believing that everyone on this team is an otherworldly talent.

Obviously, there are players on this team that fit that description.

Kurihara being such.

And yeah, he's really good, your player, I'll have to think about what I'm going to do with him.

Whazzat...? A... second player update?!?!! Image

So, it was a warm August afternoon, 91°, and sunny. Masato Kurihara's borhter, Sora, was in town, and Masato thought that it would be a good idea to call him up, and hang out for the first time in a little over a year.

Masato called Sora

11:27

Sora: Hello?
Masato: Hey, Sora, would you care to take a trip to the zoo?
Sora: Dude, you serious?
Masato: I'm 100% serious, bro.
Sora: Well, in that case, hell yes.
Masato: Great, I'll be over there in about 20 minutes.
Sora: Okay.

Masato hung up, jumped in his car, and drove over to the Grand Prince Hotel, where the Hawks were staying.

(By the way, this is inside of the zoo, Image
Pretty beautiful.)

11:52

Masato walked on into the hotel, was surrounded almost instantaneously, and signed about a bazillion autographs. Just kidding, he signed 19. He called Sora, and told him to come on down to the lobby.

He did so.

Sora: Hey Masato.
Masato: Hey! So, we should get going now.
Sora: Sure, but, um, you know, um, why are we going to the zoo?
Masato: Eh, why not? We haven't been too the zoo in, what, like, 10 years? Back in Sendai, right? Yeah. That sounds right.
Sora: Yeah, I think that's right.

The Kurihara brothers went outside, signed some autographs, and made their way to the Kyoto Municipal Zoo.

2:29

The brothers had walked around for about 2 hours, seeing the sights, admiring the animals, being admired by many adoring fans, mainly there for Masato.

They took a seat, after buying some sweet lunch.

Masato: This food is awful.
Sora: Haha, yeah, it really is, this whole zoo is pretty awful. But, hey, what're you going to do, we don't really have any other options.
Masato: Well, I mean, I AM the highest paid player in the NPB, money ain't no problem.
Sora: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. But, for old time's sake, we may as well stay and eat this crap.
Masato: Fine, it has been nice being here, spending time with my favorite brother.
Sora: Dude, I'm your only brother.
Masato: Well, it's a good thing that you're my favorite, then, don't you think? But, anyways, what I wanted to bring you here for was that I wanted to talk about your swing. I see that it's starting to look more like mine. Takin' some notes, eh?
Sora: Well, I mean, you've been having some pretty good success with that swing of yours, and at the beginning of the year, I was doing atrociously. You know, batting .217, with 3 homeruns and, like, 17 RBI at the end of May. But, since then, I've hit 14 homeruns, and have drove in 60 or so. So, yeah, I guess I am copying you a bit...
Masato: Heehee, so, by that, you're saying, I'm better?
Sora: Not at all! Bro, you may be doing better, but we all know that I'm the best baseball player to ever live!
Masato: Even better than Sadaharu Oh?
Sora: Yes.
Masato: Sorry, my brother, that title belongs only to me. ;)
Sora: Fine. Okay. Fine. Yep. Fine. Okay.

Masato and Sora talked about their baseball careers a little bit more, and then Masato drove Sora back to the Grand Prince hotel, and then went home himself.

And that was that.
