That all depends on:

a) Whether you like me or not
b) Whether you like insanity :P

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results each time, so I don't think what you're doing is classified as insanity.

And, yes, I like you.

I had no idea that was the actual definition of insanity, and I like you too

Anyways, enough derailing this thread, dtigers, make an update so it looks like we weren't spamming as much as we really were

I don't think it's entirely unrealistic for a team to assign ratings on a 100-point scale, and I needed some way to give you guys his abilities in a first-person log. I didn't even include things like reaction time or durability, just the basic ones that can be scouted fairly easily. And I didn't say anything about "overall".

I'll get to work on an update after the Tiger game.

Week of April 10th, 2011

In our last two games against the Lookouts, I pinch hit twice. First, I hit a sacrifice fly with runners on first and third and nobody out, although it was a fairly meaningless run in our 7 to 3 loss. In the last game of the series, I came in to lead off the top of the 9th up by one. I hit a towering but routine fly ball to right field that was ultimately caught, making me 5 for 8 on the series. We did end up winning the game, so we took the series three games to two.

Tuesday was a travel day, but a fairly short one at that. After about a three hour bus ride, I had the rest of the day off, which I used to relax. My agent called and suggested that I ask to be moved to right field, where I could compete more directly with the starter, but I told him I was fine where I was, at least for now. I checked the MLB standings later in the day. The Cubs were just 4-7 on the year. I called my parents. It went to voice mail.

I sat out the series opener against the Biscuits, but I was inserted once again as the clean-up hitter on Thursday. I guess that even though my starts have been infrequent, getting put in as the 4-hitter must be a good sign. That's what my agent told me, anyway. I went 0 for 5. We won in extras.

I was surprised when I showed up the next day to find myself in the starting lineup again. I hadn't expected it after my performance the day before, but I was happy nonetheless. I slapped an RBI single in the first inning and grounded out in the second. In my third at-bat, I flew out to left on the first pitch, and Dancy told me I needed to be more patient. I flew out after five pitches my next time up. We won again, 7 to 1.

I started my third straight game on Saturday, so Dancy must be seeing something that I'm not. I went 1 for 5 and ended the game with a double play ball. The final score was 5-3. After the game, I asked our hitting coach what he thought.

"You're a good, patient hitter who rarely strikes out and hits the ball hard. That's all we can really ask."

Overall, it wasn't a very good week.

Stats
7-22, .318, 0 HR, 0 2B, 0 3B, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R, 0 BB, 1 K, .304 OBP, .318 SLG

Standings
1. Huntsville Stars - 7-2
2. Tennessee Smokies - 5-4
3(t). Chattanooga Lookouts - 4-5
3(t). Carolina Mudcats - 4-5
5. Jackson Generals - 3-6

That's a pretty good week. If you think you're struggling just bring the difficulty down.

I went 2 for 16 that week, although I was hitting the ball hard most of the time.

MLB '12 doesn't really have a "crush everything" difficulty the way MLB '11 and all previous years did. The hitting between MLB '11 and '12 is so different in difficulty that what translates to a .500 average in MLB '11 is less than a .250 average in MLB '12.

Of course now that I look back at this log, it doesn't seem to actually be from MLB '12, so never mind everything I just said.

I think it is cool that he is having struggles, it makes it seem realistic.

Also, his struggles may be due to purple motivation face.

Yeah, I was just going to say, this is MLB '11. :P
